Leaning towards the Vette. No need for extra cargo for me. Entry/exit is an issue but I am not an Amazon driver. Seems like its now or never with my desire for an exciting car. Will see what the FP700 inquiry brings. Thanks for all the input it did really help.

To me, the C8 looks like the Batmobile. It’s so extreme it’s comical looking. I’ll wait until I can afford an Aston Martin Vantage F1. I think the F1 looks like an expensive Mustang.
Fun fact: the Corvette was the chassis used for Michael Keaton’s Batmobile (1989). It was actually a C3 chassis though, not a C4. It was at the Corvette Museum when we were there this summer

she should realize that cars are important to you
Or she's savvy and knows there is a big chance the market crashes and takes your job with it. Or if the job is secure, the prices will crash and if you buy now you'll be overpaying bigly.

Good luck, hopefully you will be back. As a FYI for that price have you considered a GT500? 760 ponies!
Agree. I’d rather have a S550 GT500 than base or even Z51 C8. More power, better looks, similar price. Now a C8 Z06 on the other hand…but a lot more money.

I’d also rather have a 2019 C7 Z06 than a C8 Z51/base or GT500. And you can find them all day for $75-85k, and available with a manual.

There's a lot of resistance against prices falling, so I mostly disagree with the overpayment thing, but I agree some jobs aren't very secure right now.

And I do somewhat agree with the direction of your argument - I would say that cars are never a good investment. They are sunk cost. If a person is highly leveraged at current interest rates or buying cars instead of investing for retirement, they are not making very good decisions.

In my mind it comes down to whether the couple trusts each other. Telling him what to do implies a lack of trust in my opinion.

How far away from the topic. Cooking up an offer for the Blue C-8. Looking at past history. 3 yr old car with no miles?

I like the 2019 C7 Z51 because I like N/A cars. When inside, It feels really low and the front is immense. Probably would get used to it, but I can’t say it was confidence inspiring from the first impression, whereas the Mustang just felt right from the start

They intended to flip it for a kings ransom. But then the premium went poof when everyone got their cars.

I'm surprised anyone would consider the FP700 (essentially a straight line performer only) as an alternative to a Mach 1 or Corvette.

I think the C8 is very super car wanna-b- ish. The corvette lost its identity. Get a C7 ZO6 manual. At least that wouldnt be a downgrade imo.

Am I crazy? Looked at the Dark Horse. What a price increase for not much of an upgrade. Mach 1 was my first new sports car. (Had a 1972 Vette 10yrs ago). Did not consider the C-8 because of ease of entry and onboard storage issues. I love the Mach after 18 months and 8000 wonderful miles, but I am feeling the itch. Not much time for me to enjoy crazy wild cars in my life.

If you could get a new LT1 c8 for that price I would do it in a heart beat. I've been looking for this very same thing, with the Z51 pkg. All dealers still have $5k min ADM's, except for maybe the one in atlantic city.

I thought the same thing until I went and drove one.

I was getting out of a Tundra pickup as I just couldn’t stand being without something I enjoyed driving. Went so far as to put a deposit down at Ciocca Chevy in NJ to save a spot in line to order (they sell for MSRP by the way) and then I just couldn’t get past the fact that the C8 looked so special, so amazing, so Ferrari-like but sounded like a UPS truck? Okay, maybe night quite that boring, but certainly doesn’t sound anywhere near as great as it looks. If they all sounded like the ZO6, I’d be driving one today but I couldn’t find anything for under 100K that I liked anywhere near the GT350 for it’s combination of looks, sound, performance, usability.
Once I had the stuff that would make the Vette special enough to consider it over the GT350, it was well over $90K and it still sounded just like any other V8. Bought a 2019 GT350 in July of this year, my third GT350, and have been smiling ever since. It, like the Mach 1, is just special to me where the Vette is close, but just not special enough.
Whatever, right? If it makes you happy AND you can get the stuff you NEED on the C8, like the front end lift (Not available on the lowest trim level, the 1LT), then go with the Vette and drive it til you decide you need a GT350!

The C7 Grand Sport is my jam as far as NA Vette’s go. Handles better than a Z51. C7 ZR1 is a car I aspire to own some day but I can’t justify the price right now, they’re still stupid expensive up here. Can get an S550 GT500 for a much better price and I think (just my opinion) the GT500 is a much better all around car than any Vette. The ZR1 will beat it on track but the 500 has much better street manners. Even with all that HP it still makes a good cruiser.

But, we all like what we like. Good luck OP, hopefully you can work out a price and that you enjoy the car. It is a really good car, just not everyone’s cup of tea
