All the talk about Corvette which is gm who makes junk. Electronics never gm's strong suit. Like I said before don't let the door hit your Chevrolet ass on way out.

If I am going to spend that kind money, I rather save up for older Ford gt...
LOL not sure where you think you’re going to find a Ford GT for Corvette money

I would reconsider whether the GF is a good influence in your life. Sounds like a problem to me. If she cares about you and wants you to be happy, she should realize that cars are important to you. If you don't care, that's another thing, but I wouldn't stay with someone that wanted to tell me I can't go out and buy a car. Whenever. I. Decide.

I don't think you are crazy, but it depends on what you want. The C8 is actually pretty large. I think it weighs pretty close to the same as a Mustang even though it's all aluminum and a 2 seater. So it has decent storage and I don't know whether ease of entry will be much different than a Mustang.

For my money I would prefer a C5 or C6(if you can stand the looks of the C6). Every generation has gained quite a bit of weight, but the C6 still has the sports car feel. I think the C5 Z06 drives really great, but to me the C7 drives more like a muscle car than a sports car. The C8 is a complete non-starter for me, because there's no manual transmission available.

I would definitely advise driving the car. To me a big factor is the engine characteristics. The pushrod V8s in Corvettes don't rev out like the Coyote, so to me they are less fun. Like I said, it depends on what you want.

My most recent purchase was a GR86, so you know my priorities are more with lightness. If I were trading my Mustang I would consider a Cayman, but not a Corvette.
To me, the C8 looks like the Batmobile. It’s so extreme it’s comical looking. I’ll wait until I can afford an Aston Martin Vantage F1. I think the F1 looks like an expensive Mustang.

Found a base C-8 with the exhaust option 60 miles away, called and It was sold. MSRP $71,190. Right color too, red. They said I could order another one. Found another base 200 miles away and I am waiting to hear back from the dealer. $67,895, wrong color black. It's a rainy day here so I'm going to drive a C-8 and spec out an order on a short cab/bed F-150 with the FP700. Shared the idea with the wife over dinner. Went over like a fart in a spacesuit. Oh, will ask if they would consider MSRP on the Dark Horse LOL.
Drove the C-8, OMG nice. Fell into the seat, hurting my broken back. Wow that dropped down getting in. WOT same as the M1. Not too much issue getting out. Price for F-150 Short cab/bed was $42,685 (Race Red). Found out the service manager is doing the same thing. He is going for 4wd where I am 2wd. $12,350 for FP 700B ,$1,800 install. $42,685 shorty base truck. $56,835 for a balls out retro ride.

I am sorry but that is one ugly rear end. No comparison.

Was raining did not fool around with any settings. Do not know what upgrades I was driving. That being said, It drove great, lighter on the steering, better forward view, (Im 5/6). The AT 8 with so many problems was flawless. I loved it, will try to get into a decent price. (Good luck) 2021, 2800 miles, $91,999 asking. Looking up history. 1g14b2d41ms104777.

Good luck, hopefully you will be back. As a FYI for that price have you considered a GT500? 760 ponies!

I second this. You can get a lower mileage GT500 for that kind of price or even less. It’s a better all around car IMO but to each their own. The C8 is super quick and is a little more nimble but the 500 pulls like a frickin freight train!

I actually like the appearance of the C8. I would be interested to at least see if I fit in the car if GM would have cared enough to give a manual transmission option.

Aston Martin Vantage F1 seems like a classy choice. IIRC they have a transaxle - good weight balance.

Oof. Wow, that's a lot. I guess the new Mustangs are really high priced now as well. That's why I'm keeping my older and cheap stuff for the moment.

Yes, for a person at 5' 6" the 'vette is going to fit you well. I'm 6'4", so I tend to have issues with headroom in them. Good luck!
