I hate console shifters on automatics. I have a 2019 F150 Lariat with the console shifter. All it does is waste a ton of space. The knob on the dash and paddle shifters on the steering wheel makes much more sense. They're electronic anyways.

It’s to pretend it’s a manual, that’s all it ever was. I agree it looks dumb, they’ve had plenty of time to change it by now
Yeah, with my mods, I like to make engine sounds by buzzing my lips when I shift, too!

Ah fast is embarrassing. Up is down and wrong is right, yay 2026!
Both transmission types are loads of fun, in quite different ways. The driving experiences of both are incredible and one isn't really 'better' than the other. It probably takes more skill to operate a manual, but once you're able to keep the engine rpms up into the 4-6k range and smoothly, but firmly, push the car, its an exhilarating feeling. With the automatic, the same applies to manipulating the car to unlock the magic that's embedded into the drive train computer programming. If you're racing, there may be a speed advantage in there somewhere too, but thats not necessarily all that important. Some things just make life better and the Mustang is definitely on my list.

Why does teh Ranger get this nice small thing:

but the Mustang get this huge thing that looks like it's trying to pretend to be a manual? The smaller shifter would make the little storage in front of it easier to get to and use. As much as my knee would like me to move to an A10, every time I see that shifter I just cringe. Its probably the worst part of the Mustangs interior.

The mustang shifter does look a little tall, but it probably goes back to some history nostalgia.

I'm not a fan of the first one. Looks like an old flip phone on a stick.

"Huge, pointless 10spd shifter?" That's a stretch. Perfect the way it is.
IDK. Aesthetically it's pretty bad. Not that my opinion matters much, my car is MT82 equipped.

Manual boot etc.. I hated the fact the shift knob had PRD etc, as well as the shifter surround, as well as the dash...

I posted somewhere on the first page "wait until you see those fake manual shifters" and didn't have to wait very long, those that posted thought that it's a flex.... Bless their hearts...
Kinda like someone posting ragging on others for modding their car how they want, thinking that’s a flex? Bless your heart… Grow up
