How Many of you did not upgrade your Crank gear and OPG gears when installing a stage 1 or 2 Whipple system?

Hoe many miles do you have on yours with the Whipple installed?

I have and I have read them. Now that the car has been out for a couple of years I wanted some updated information from people that HAVE a Whipple and to see how many miles they have put on the system without OPGs and with them. Thats all....

You will get different opinions some say you need them some say you don't, there have been many that have broken the stock OPG's. IMO opinion they make them for a reason.:D

Its easier to do them before you bolt all the shit for the blower on the front of the engine so if you think you might want to do them I'd do them before installing the whipple

I went 20k after the whipple s2 before I did them. If you can do them during install why not.

I have 21,500 miles on the car. Installed the Whipple with first oil change (about 3000 miles). Car was tuned to 815whp E85 with the 3.5" pulley quickly after completing the install.

TSS OPG and crank sprocket are still sitting on the shelf. At this rate I am thinking I will wait until I build the short block, if ever.

I installed the OPG, CS, and ATI damper in mine about 2 months before I installed the Whipple stage 2 also my car is a manual and they will be harder on the gears. With my luck I know they would have broken and trashed my engine. Plus I am a competent mechanic and can install my own parts. Along with the piece of mind about them now breaking.

Gotta look at the whole picture 400 is parts without tax, and some free shipping. This also assumes you will Install the parts yourself. There is also opportunity cost unaccounted for if you plan on doing the 6-8 hour install. Assuming you pay yourself as much as a mechanic, figure you'd be out 100/hr@8hr. At least 1200 total. Not saying one way or another, just saying be real with the numbers, not a 400$ slap a JLT intake type shit

Thanks for the input everyone I do appreciate it.

How about this. who has killed their OPG with a whipple? I understand the insurance but hey if I go whipple and pay 400 for the Whipple insurance it will give me $5000 towards a new longblock if I blow it up.
