They were finally able to solve my vibration issue by replacing one part....the part attached to my phone charger![emoji13]

Yeah, the 051A wheels grew on me the more I saw them, so I decided to spring for 'em this time around. And yes, I do like these tires much better!

Service manager called and said that the Ford tech rep had approved doing the pinion flange. So, it is on order. We will at least have another data point and hopefully, it fixes the problem as others have indicated. He also said that the engineer mentioned they were looking into changing something during production to eliminate the problem. That at least indicates they have an idea of what is wrong.

Vibration between 50-70

Mine is a 2016, Ecoboost, Automatic and its at the dealership now. Ford has requested the DS check run out on the pinion flange and driveshaft. They supplied the DS with tolerances on run out and if out of spec have authorized changing the driveshaft and the flange. the DS was instructed to recheck run out if they have to change the parts and road test to determine if vibration is still present.

Now i'm just waiting.

They did all that on mine and it was no different. Actually the second driveshaft was the best and it was out of spec. The current DS is in spec and supposedly balanced on the car and it is worse than the out of spec DS. The pinion flange has never been changed because it is almost perfect according to specs. But they are changing it, I guess out of desperation.

Vibration

So I have a vibration that almost feels /sounds like a bad exhaust drone at 50 mph. Its not RPM dependent either so I'm leaning towards driveline?

Sounds about right. Welcome to our nightmare. Hope you have a good dealer that will not blow you off like so many others do. Keep us posted on your progress, and good luck!

I have been experiencing rumbling & vibration between 50 & 70 mph, which kind of felt like the wheels were out of balance. After rebalancing them twice, the dealer even tried a different set of wheels & tires - no luck.

They now believe that the drive shaft needs replacing - at 1100 miles. :frusty:

Anyone else experiencing this?

so I've spent the last 5 hours reading this entire thread.. yesterday i thought i was crazy for feeling the vibrations... now i am just sad. thanks to all who have shared their horror stories.. I fear I am the next in line experience the dismay..

I am curious though, and maybe another poll.. how may people with issues here have RD's that were installed/ modified at the dealership post-assembly line? I know when i was talking to one of the sales rep's when I was buying my car i pointed out the 3.55 gear add-on which was on my window sticker for a couple extra hundred bucks... he advised me all their GT's were like that as the owner of this particular dealer liked to sell them with "sportier" trans set ups.... while reading the thread.. it was brought up a few times the different rear axles... none in particular causing a specific problem... I'm just wondering if there is any correlation in the driveline vibrations and post-assembly line changes to the RD. if i am totally wrong about how the rear axles are put in the cars i apologize, insomnia kicked in and haven't slept in like two days...

Sent PM to Deysha... really want to see what I can do with Ford CS before i make all the trips around charlotte to a bunch of different dealers....

Well shit, add me to the list. My vibration is between 77-90mph but I have 3.31 gears, so that would make sense if the vibration is on the shaft or pinion. I have an appointment this Friday to drop the car off.

Will keep you guys updated. Hey FordService do you guys want to let my dealer know that this isn't an isolated issue, and help them do a little homework. I'm horrified at some of the service that people on this forum have received and am really dreading what's coming.

You'll usually get it at a couple of different speeds- for me it is terrible at 60, good at 70 and comes back at 75+ where you hear it as much as you feel it. Start at 50 and go up in 5mph increments with the radio off and listen and feel at each speed. I have 3.15 gears, all stock. They should get the new pinion flange installed this week so I'll know if that really is the issue with my car. 2 new DS, indexing and balancing have done nothing to fix it so far and everything is in spec...

My 15 V6 had stock 3.15's, had the problem, worked on for over 5 months & I'm now starting arbitration with our Auto Manufacturers Arbitration Program up here. Process can take a couple of months, but it will be interesting to see how that goes!
