Congrats! Does your about Sync screen say 1.19?I was able to successfully update to 1.19 on my Sync 3.0. Took about 45 minutes with a couple of restarts during that time. Sadly 1.19 still does not have my new subdivision, despite it being on Google Maps for almost 2 years now. Oh well.
Yup!Congrats! Does your about Sync screen say 1.19?
Where did you get the maps? Did you enter your vin and esn number at syncnavigation.com and it pointed you to new maps? Or USB stick shipping?I was able to successfully update to 1.19 on my Sync 3.0. VIN and ESN at syncnavigation.com. It did not actually inform me of the map version anywhere until after I installed it on the car; so I don't know if you can check before hand what maps version they are offering you.Where did you get the maps? That was exactly my concern if maps need to be unzipped, which instruction didn't mentioned.VIN and ESN at syncnavigation.com. I downloaded the maps and license files onto my hard drive. Then I unzipped the maps directly onto the USB stick (Windows Explorer, right click, extract to root directory of exFAT formatted USB stick). I then copied the license file into the correct folder on the USB stick and then simply inserted that into the vehicle port. There was a restart almost immediately, followed by about 25 minutes of installation, another restart, and another 20 mins of installation.
1. Format USB 3.0 drive as exFAT32 and rename the volume "SyncMyRide"That was exactly my concern if maps need to be unzipped, which instruction didn't mentioned.
When I try to follow installation instruction, I receive an error "Installation Failed Error Code: PKG_ERR03".
I noticed the date of version file is Feb 2, 2020. Not sure if this is correct version. In my download the license file name(4U5T-14G424-CC.TAR) is different from that on instructions(start with jr3t). I think my download consist of completely incorrect license file.
Can you outline step by step and folders where you copy maps, license and version files. Thanks in advance.
Did you unzip license file into USB?1. Format USB 3.0 drive as exFAT32 and rename the volume "SyncMyRide"
2. Download zipped maps file and license file to hard drive.
3. Extract zipped maps file to USB drive. I did this by right clicking on the zipped folder in Windows Explorer and selecting "Extract"
4. Copy license file into the SyncMyRide folder on your USB drive.
The license file will have the following name format: XXX-14G424-XX.TAR.GZ
Yes exFAT, sorry. And I did not unzip the license file. Just copied it over.Did you unzip license file into USB?
BTW there is no exFAT32. You mean exFAT?
By the way just in case, here are the directions for downloading the map files.Yes exFAT, sorry. And I did not unzip the license file. Just copied it over.
The instruction said to unzip Sync32.zip but inside that zip file are folder and two other files and inside folder another zip files which are the maps. This is why I asked if one should unzip maps into USB. Anyway, in my case I have incorrect license file.By the way just in case, here are the directions for downloading the map files.
The instructions refer to the unzipping the zip file in steps 7 & 8.
Step 8 shows you what files you should have to transfer to the USB. For your own sanity, just follow the directions and do what the tell you to do.The instruction said to unzip Sync32.zip but inside that zip file are folder and two other files and inside folder another zip files which are the maps. Like I said, I did follow instruction to the teeth. In my case I have incorrect license file and during the installation it through the Error Code: PKG_ERR03. I contacted Ford and they send me a link to direct download. Still it's downloading wrong license file. Enough said.Step 8 shows you what files you should have to transfer to the USB. around the 30-40 min mark it will say "update complete, blah blah blah.. remove USB drive" but its not actually complete.. it will display that message for 3 seconds or so before it reboots the entire system, then continues the update for another 10-20 min or so.The build is now good, but the maps not so much. Car idled for like 40min, said install was complete, I turned it off, got out, all that, went back in couple of times, still says maps are 1 17. I've contacted Ford service on Twitter, which is a pain, but so far the lady only pasted in the instructions for the map update. I already have those and followed them. Frustrating a bit.
9. Turn ignition on, SYNC will display pop-up “Navigation Fault…” Please ignore this POPUP. Insert the original USB which contains the map update data and follow the user instructions. Please do not remove the USB drive or power the vehicle’s engine off while update is installing. The update should take 50-60 minutes. Around the 30-40 minute mark you can may see a “Installation Complete, remove USB” for 2-3 seconds and it disappears. The update is not complete at this point. Please leave USB drive in. At the end you will see this message again, but it will not disappear until you press the screen for it to.
