Benefit of this is you don't have to wait for it to add timing, its instant.
But pray tell that's just mental masterbation. What possible real world scenario can't wait 10 minutes of run time?

Have you met the average mustang driver?

In all seriousness though, what I meant was it is exact and locked, it isn't floating around while it learns, and there is no risk of it locking on the wrong value and adding the wrong amount of timing.

Also by using our custom flex fuel system, you can blend any table you want, not just what Ford want to blend.

You can change lambda, rev limits, not that it makes any sense buy you could even change your idle rpm based on ethanol content.

The plan down the road is boost, so a sensor is probably the best way to go with that.
Probably but @engineermike is FI and has come up with a way to make the self learning safe. At least I know he is on that path.

Now how can I get alcohol blended spark tables on a gen 2? @Rolls

Personally I've not bothered with investigating the OEM logic. Mike would know more. This is how I've set up my flex fuel on our test GT. I would implement it identically on a gen2 and gen3. Simply cap the max spark with the cylinder pressure limit table, this is not its intended purpose, however it is an extremely simple method to limit spark on your 93 tune and then let the E85 tune run the MBT/spark from your main HDFX tables.

You could also add spark via lambda (and command a different lambda for E85). The OEM system in my opinion is complex compared to this method.

In our custom OS wizard add the minimum required number of tables required for your E85 tune (you would normally add more tables for cold start, however this is sufficient for explaining the concept). You can make your flex tune as simple or as complex as you like by simply adding whichever tables you want blended in the wizard.

You then get two copies of all of these tables.

1691023880724.png

Now you can set the spark limt for cyl pressure to be the stock value (max spark clip) which means it will run whatever your HDFX/MBT/BLK tables are defined as when running E85.

Then when running 93 it will clip the spark to the values in the other table. Ignore the actual spark values in the screenshot, you aren't going to run a flat 15 deg across the bottom line in real life, this is just an example.

Then you customise the blend curve here which defines how it interpolates between the two tables. Here we have told it to add no timing until 30% ethanol and to be basically all in by E75 and 100% of the E85 timing map at 80% ethanol.

All totally configurable how you want it. Depends on if this is a boosted application, NA etc you will likely come up with a different blend curve

You would set this up identically between a gen2/gen3 simply with different tables used for cold start fuel enrichment.

MUCH simpler than the OEM logic.

It’s not about waiting it’s about safety, it’s a significantly better and safer system.

Where would I find this ? Thanks.
In our workshop package. User flex is available now, canbus flex is being beta tested and will be available via workshops and select users inititally then rolled out to everyone.

Lund Racing will likely be the first workshop to offer this to the public (eg if you aren't interested in tuning your own car). They have done hundreds of user adjustable flex fuel setups successfully with fantastic feedback so far.

Then that'd be the route I'll go. 3300AUD is a bit spendy for me, but no doubt worth every penny.

Our flex fuel system has a "hold last value" above a specific load and also a filter constant to lag the value to account for volume in the fuel rail after the sensor.

That pricing is designed for a workshop who does this daily. For an Indvidual user you only pay credits and the tuners fee which is $500 AUD ~$375 USD. Then it will depend on your tuner, mods etc as to what the tuner charges.

Have a look at Lunds pricing calculator for an example of what they charge without a flex sensor.

This is basically exactly what I want. I'm also super excited that Lund is offering it.

Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately for me "existing customers only", of which, I am not.

@Rolls a lot of us here in the US would love a single car workshop version like you offer to those in AUS.

Please give us this ability. Some of the single use buyers would get the full version.

It is an addon for existing customers. You can simply purchase a tune + this combination from them. Fill out their online form and say Roland from PCMTEC referred you. If you PM me your name and the Lund ticket number I'll chat to Jon and offer any additional assistance as it will be one of the first. This may be a few weeks away as they are still setting up the beta on their vehicle.

If you can video the entire process we will even sponsor the credits (~$375 USD) for you.

This offer goes for anyone (workshops or end users) by the way, if you are willing to do a half decent video on how the multitune/custom os works, or if you are doing the tuning yourself, how to use the wizard, any forum writeups etc, we will sponsor your credit cost or even more depending on what you produce.

We really appreciate the support everyone has been giving us to date.

You would require the workshop edition, then you pay credits per vehicle. Pricing is all on our website.

Credits are 3 per vehicle for standard tuning, 10 for custom os/multitune/flex. Currently you get everything or nothing with the multi tune.
