Chemical guys VDP dressing is my favorite at the moment. Slight wet look(moist if you will) but not overly so. Stays in place no sling, and lasts.

I use tire shine to make my tires black. If I don't use tire shine, the tires will be an ugly grayish brown color.

There's different levels of shine. I never go for the full wet look. Also I never have any problem with slinging. Apply the stuff and wipe off the excess. Easy.

This. I have gloss black wheels and if I don't apply any dressing to the tires, it looks ugly greyish brown against the wheels.

Some good suggestions so far in this thread, I appreciate peoples input.

Always buff down the dressing and silly problems like disgusting glossiness and sling go away.

I used to use Mequiar's, but I got a free sample of Wolfgang Black Diamond Tire Gel and it became my new favorite in one use. It buffs down to a perfect, deep, satin black, and this little, two-ounce bottle will last me well over a year, because an application lasts 3-4 weeks. It only takes 10-20 drops per half-tire.

I only use 303 Aerospace Protectant on any rubber/plastic parts on my vehicles or boats. It leaves a nice shiny matte finish so it doesn't look like the tire was dipped in vaseline and contains UV protection to prevent fading. If it can keep plastic and rubber looking new on a boat that's baking in the sun all year, that's all I need to know. Been using it for many years.

It's available online or at any boating supply store and you just wipe it on with a sponge. Easy peasy.

Best,

I use http://www.ammonyc.com/shop/ammo-mud-tire-gel/

Or would recommend the turtle wax black carnuba that comes In the back to black kit only two things I've used that make the tires look great for days and don't get all over!

Besides the gel can be used on any type of plastic, I use It on the door rockers and the plastic diffuser; It's water based so doesn't sling and helps keep your tires nice and healthy, my pirrelis never brown (I hate browning.)

JUST SAY NOOOOOooooooooooo !! I hate tire dressing, always gets all over the wheels & fenders :tsk:
If anyone puts it on my car @ the dealer, I make them wipe it all off before I leave.
The majority of dressings available at retailers are garbage.Basically silicone and perfume. It doesnt dry and will sling. It also attracts dust. In my personal experience Chemical guys has a few that completely dry to touch. My current favorites are made by 3-D Products. they are:HD Dress and Ultra Protectant #706. Both dry completely, dont sling.and look very black. The Ultra has a bit more gloss and its my fav. They last quite a while too.
When I read about people recommending the lousy products, I know for certain they have never used any good ones. Especially Meguiars.its the stickiest,non-dryingest crap you can get.If you put enough on to shine it will sling all over you car.No thanks.

I've been using Opti-Bond tire gel as well. Works really well and won't make it super shiny as long as you don't goop it on.

I did recently buy some Adam's VRT though, so I'm going to give that one a try.

Either Carpro PERL or McKee's 37 Gloss Tire Gel. Also get a Carrand tire brush.

Best,
303 now makes a dedicated exterior protectant that lasts a lot longer, check it out.

If you like high gloss, try Turtle Wax tire shine. It is an aerosol that dries to the touch in minutes and my last application lasted 6 months! Looks like it is wet all the time but is dry to the touch, doesn't sling and when you tires get dirty you just wash them. No reapplying needed. If you like something with less gloss or natural looking, Duplicolor has an aerosol. The amount of shine depends on how many applications you apply. The Turtle wax is wet with only 1 application. All can be found at any parts store. Duplicolor can go from a new tire look all the way to wet. Both last for months. People will swear your tire is wet. But when they touch it, No smudges or greasy fingers.
