Cars can be replaced , lives cant . It's just a car , get another one . I've been through this and i just moved on after about 8 hours . Half the buzz of having an enthusiast car is doing the mods and you get to do it all again and maybe improve on what you did before . Look at it as a new adventure because it is . Rock on

It's not the ' End ' , it's a new beginning

Exactly!!! Pearls here, pearls!!!

sorry for your loss,
I just scratched under the front lip of my gt which had 100kms on it due to a "lump" on concrete when parking, and I was devastated, your situation is 100x worse

i didnt see the video, but out of curiosity why is the video being posted a bad idea? did it show the OP potentially doing the wrong thing, or hid the wrong actions of others?

The first rule of litigation is we don't talk about litigation. If you are ever involved in a potential litigation, giving or receiving, it is best to get an attorney early and not to discuss details or give your evaluation of things publicly where they may be used against you in ways you never intended.

Total 100% on this one. Eons ago I worked for a Engineering Investigative company as their IT guy. They were hired by insurance companies to be experts in fires/crashes/building collapes/explosions all kinds of stuff. We had depositions and lawyers in the offices almost every day. The folks there told me no matter how much you THINK your info is good for you NEVER volunteer anything! Ever! The boss even pulled me into a case involving a building fire and a computer claim of smoke damage. Briefly I was a court certified expert in data computing in Louisiana and Texas, LOL. I've been deposed over 7 or 9 times and I've seen folks blow themselves up with good intentions by ignoring their lawyers.

My sincerest condolences (super serious) on this loss. Being of the Orange persuasion it hurts a little bit more too. Maybe for some folks on this forum a Mustang is just a car, nice car or part of their collection (rich bums!) but for a lot of us this one Mustang is part of our dream, what makes us smile when life is serving shit sandwiches. We're fans of the Mustang heritage and it's legacy. I know I am. So I really hope you are able to grieve the loss, have good memories and continue in the Pony family.

Was distressing to see how you had to suffer because of the idiot in front of you. Happens all over America, everywhere. I am originally from Europe and I get over there all the time. I’m 10x safer driving at 150 mph on an autobahn as I am driving 60 on an American highway. As I‘ve always said (I’m 76), “you have to be brain dead to fail a drivers license in America”. Given my age, for reference I love my 2019 Kona Blue GT-350 w/550 hp, and Corvette C7 Z06 w/710 hp. At least with the Corvette I stand a somewhat better chance of getting away from the idiots as all I need is a very, very small escape window.
Believe me, escape is the word.

Love your car. I‘ve done some of the mods you had listed for your car improves an already great car.

Wish you luck in replacing your car. Glad you are OK.

As I‘ve always said (I’m 76), “you have to be brain dead to fail a drivers license in America”.
...And people still fail all the time. 🙁

My first clue of how common it was: When I got my driver's license one of my friends immediately asked "How many times did you take the test?"
I was surprised (and disappointed) at how easy it was. I was worried that I would screw up parallel parking, and then they didn't test me on that. I just had to drive around the block and come back to the office.
My friend had to take the drive-around-the-block test 3 times. 🤦‍♂️

Then, once you pass, you might have to look at pictures of signs to renew your license
but you never have to take the driving test again.
...So people brain-dump most of what they learned, and mostly fall into whatever bad habits their parents had demonstrated. Safe following distance and turning on your lights in the rain seem to be the first things to go.

Even when my license had lapsed while I was in Asscrackistan, and actually hadn't driven for almost a year, I got my new license without a test. I was actually a bit disturbed to see how casually Florida gave me that license. 😬

100% agree. Funny how we're told that driving is a privilege a) when you're young wanting a license or b) when the Judge is telling you in traffic court. If it really is then why don't we have to prove our skill every 10 or 20 years to keep that privilege? I'd be okay with it.

Nah, it's definitely the keyboard anonymity... I can only imagine how big of jerks these guys would be if they didn't get their participation trophy after getting their ass whooped in 2nd grade soccer league.
Agreed keyboard anonymity tends to make lions out of mice.

According to the guy I hit the car in front of him stopped trying to get into the right lanes, that leads to another Interstate, Airport etc.. Cleary an idiot. I think he wanted to go to the airport since I saw a guy with a carry on suitcase on the side of the road. Best thing while we were all talking to the Highway Patrol another car flipped/rolled over on the other side of the Interstate.. Rubbernecks..
Wow, I guess "rubbernecking" occurs everywhere. I thought it was a "Hawaii thing"... ;-)

I agree with the safe distance comment. My wife seems to never do that and it explains why she totaled a Honda we had by hitting the back of a truck (she tried to blame the truck by saying that he suddenly stopped while making a turn). Had she been spacing properly, she would've been able to stop without hitting him. Another thing is people think ABS is a fail-safe that if you have ABS you'll never run into someone again. Duh? Spacing is probably the most important factor but so many people get upset when someone cuts in front of them because of the "space" so they close it up instead of backing off to restore the safe distance again. Imagine if aircraft didn't give the vertical and horizontal separation that ATC gives them; we'd have a lot of mid-air crashes.

Having lost close family member in the last few days, this is on point. The biggest item here is the litigation, and any financial burden that may occur. However, at the end of the day, as long as one can walk away physically unharmed, it is just a car.

It is just a car. Losing the way someone looks at you, their voice, the hugs, the kisses, the presence, does not compare. A soul is irreplaceable.

Many years ago I was involved in litigation from an accident. For the deposition, my lawyer told me to answer yes or no and to not to add anything to that. It is only an opportunity for the opposing side to try and trip you up.

As far as that driving situation I see this every day. People are simply too lazy to wait in a line of traffic so they drive down to where the exit almost cuts off, slam on their brakes and flip on the blinker. People need to start being ticketed for this as it is dangerous (as the OP found out) and it impedes traffic by shutting down two lanes instead of one.

It's almost a sport in Houston. I despise this.
