Did you buy the OP's insurance? You know he's going to be "made whole"??? How about all the mods the OP did?

What if the OP is like a lot of current owners, and thinks the new car looks like a sun-bleached dog turd?

It's good to be positive, but the OP might be raped financially on this one.
It's just a car, they'll make more. You don't know more about the OP than anybody else does so try being a little less of an asshat about it.

Glad you're OK-- not sure if we've met before. Are you on the SSF Facebook group? Car looks familiar.

Geez, no idea why threads have to go sideways so often. What’s wrong with trying to support someone????? This seems to happen on almost every auto/motorcycle forum I frequent. Maybe I’m getting old but I guess the saying “i’f you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything at all” doesn’t apply these days. Maybe it’s just people being able to hide behind a keyboard that promotes such rude behavior, or maybe there is something to everyone getting a trophy in Little League….

Nah, it's definitely the keyboard anonymity... I can only imagine how big of jerks these guys would be if they didn't get their participation trophy after getting their ass whooped in 2nd grade soccer league.

I’ve seen cars that haven’t been hit as hard as this one and they all went off. That’s scary that at least the steering wheel didn’t go off. The passenger door is hanging, the side curtains should’ve come on too.
Newer cars are very particular about airbag deployment and many factors come into consideration. For the vast majority of rear end collisions (where you are rear ended) there's no reason for them to deploy since your head is going to snap backwards, not forwards. Airbags have a small risk of providing additional injury, so the computer fires the minimal amount for maximum protection.

Glad you're okay OP, but definitely get some attention for your neck and upper spine. You can feel fine but then be in immense pain just days later.

Your upper airbags not deploying are a good sign in your favor, not the end all be all, but get checked out and see a lawyer to make sure you get compensated.

Glad you are OK, and I don't know why people have to come in here and be abrasive, let's just support our fellow member!

Believe me, I am still in shock and fighting with my emotions. I put so much into this car, I really enjoyed driving it. I hope it turns out for the best. People always say "its just a car", believe, its more than that.
I understand that.

Get another and start over. You enjoyed the journey last time, why not again? And bonus points for showing fate or luck who's boss.

The only way any mods would be covered on any vehicles is if:
1) Owner discussed with their Ins. Co. and the Ins. Co. offers an additional rider to the policy that would cover XYZ mods based on XYZ values of those mods.

2) Owner had an Agreed Value Policy where the Ins. Co. and Owner Agreed to cover the vehicle at "XYZ" value in the event of a total loss claim. This value includes the vehicle and any additions to it and would be stipulated in black and white on the declaration page in the policy. In the event of a total loss claim, the Ins. Co. would pay out the Agreed Value, no more and no less.
Great post. But regarding the part I'm quoting, it may be possible that other drivers in the chain reaction are declared all or partially responsible for damages to @Gnatsum21's car. If so, they would be responsible for that share of mods. Comprehensive might exclude mods but collision can't exclude anything damaged.

Cars can be replaced , lives cant . It's just a car , get another one . I've been through this and i just moved on after about 8 hours . Half the buzz of having an enthusiast car is doing the mods and you get to do it all again and maybe improve on what you did before . Look at it as a new adventure because it is . Rock on

It's not the ' End ' , it's a new beginning
