I would get the mods to delete this entire thread.
This right here is the 100% best advice anybody is going to get on this board today, I promise.

1) Glad you're OK. That's what counts. Stuff can be replaced.
2) As much as you enjoyed that car, it can be replaced. It
did its job, kept you safe.
Great testament to Mustang Designers, Engineers, Parts Suppliers, and UAW.
3) DON'T make any rash decisions! Take YOUR time going forward. Do not feel pressured to make a decision on anything.
4) Reread and do #3.

You'll find a great replacement.

Goodbye Mustang. Goodbye chat. It was fun being here while it lasted
at least it wasn't a 15,000-unit run Shelby. Those are irreplaceable!
/sarcasm

PS it really is amazing how point-focused drivers can be.

Only the lower ones. Not the steering wheel or passenger side. My GF was in the car too. Do they only deploy at a certain G force?
I’ve seen cars that haven’t been hit as hard as this one and they all went off. That’s scary that at least the steering wheel didn’t go off. The passenger door is hanging, the side curtains should’ve come on too.

it's a 'rate of change' and directionality that dictates which ones fire.

The only thing that really needs to be deleted is any statements made by the OP as it pertains to the crash. The rest is speculation……

Right - and since the S550 was not moving forward at that moment in time it was hit from the rear, that may be the very reason the steering wheel and glove box airbags did not deploy. IIRC, doesn't the vehicle have to be going a certain speed before those would even fire off for a frontal impact?

You'll be bought out and made whole. Perfect timing to put a new order in on a DH.

Yes, no joke. I have been on the defensive side quite a while now, but how on earth do you handle a guy stopped in front of you? In the dark, 6 AM, .. It all happened so fast.. I still can't believe I came home without my car.
By looking out the glass. Even if he had no lights on, the brake lights would be on.
Glad you are ok. But unless his car can stop on a dime and leave 9 cents change. Yes the moron that stopped to get to an exit is a fool. I've learned to look for this and morons crossing 4 lanes to get to the exit at busy exit areas.
Again glad you are ok. Get another and rebuild.

Did you buy the OP's insurance? You know he's going to be "made whole"??? How about all the mods the OP did?

What if the OP is like a lot of current owners, and thinks the new car looks like a sun-bleached dog turd?

It's good to be positive, but the OP might be raped financially on this one.

I hear you.. Its really, really bad down here. When the traffic light switches from red to green, don't go or you're suicidal. Most of the time there is still a car flying through red.
That is an unwritten rule in Houston. NEVER jump at a green light. Lights and lanes are just suggestions around here.

Sucks to see the car like that man, I can only imagine. Have you been checked out yet? Adrenaline can mask a lot of stuff.

I am ok. Just got all my stuff out off my car and kissed it goodbye. Maybe there is a chance I see it again.

You can only deal with the hand you have been dealt. Try to turn chicken shit into chicken salad. What his mods list and investment in his car at this point is completely irrelevant. I don't get what you are trying to write. How in anything in my post am I making light of his loss? I see his signature in his post on the mods he has done. Every time you take your car out for a drive, hell even parked in your garage, there can be a disaster that will hit. When you mod your car you will never get back the money you invested in the car, even if it wasn't involved in an accident. So once again how is your post relevant? Either way the predicament he is in is what has been dealt. You can cry over it, or move on and make it as positive of an outcome as possible.

The bottom line he wasn't hurt, otherwise the outcome of this would be completely in a different realm. I didn't see the video that was posted up, maybe that was a good thing. If the OP was driving like an ass-hat and caused the accident (not saying he did, as I didn't see it), then he has made his bed and now needs to sleep in it.

Useless platitudes.

Stop acting like you know the OP's situation and all is just going to be great.

I'm not acting like I know the OPs situation and neither do you. As far as useless platitudes, what is useless are your posts.
