Correct and our apologies for missing that, they can be completely removed for those that do not want to cut the factory unit. As we are aware this is required for many of the intercooler brands on the market for the ecoboost on cars that are equipped with the shutter system. This is primarily due to the thickness of the MMR intercooler (one of the thickest on the market). It also has the largest cooling area of ANY Ecoboost intercooler which is one of the most important factors.

I put this up so people could have some sort of apples to apples comparison. This chart notwithstanding, there's more to intercooler selection than dimensions, core size, and price. I feel it important to forward some of the advice Adam@MAP has mentioned.

Paraphrasing-
The design of the intercooler is paramount over all else, including core size. Particularly important to look at are pressure drop, cfm, and core structure. If the intercooler can't slow down the charge air enough to allow for the core to extract heat, then it isn't performing its basic function. On the other hand, slowing down the air too much causes negative effects as well so you must find a happy medium.
The only true measure of an intercooler's ability is test results.

Both Levels and MAP have shown impressive results.

Heres a pic of the new AMBIENT THERMAL MANAGEMENT Intercooler next to stock. We will be doing extensive datalogging and comparisons vs stock later this week!


Here's a side view showing core size difference as well as factory exact geometry which will allow our intercooler to be used with factory or any aftermarket charge pipes that are designed to fit the factory intercooler.


Closeup showing round face bars, weld and build quality. we use a unique media blasted finish with polished logo that stands up very well to the elements and looks like an upscale Apple product.

European cars will have the block heater.
Have no idea how a block heater looks like and if it could be an obstacle to mount another intercooler...anyone ?
It seems to be for sure a problem (require a hole in the grill) when changing eg the lower grill

Agreed on the ugliness, need to get it removed!:frusty:
I have a thread requiring advice on the swap of the lower grill by a plain GT grill but don't have all the info and pictures yet to be sure swap is OK.

Secondly I have no idea if swapping the stock intercooler with this heater is possible. Mishimoto can't give straight answer neither...:shrug:

We have dyno and track tested the Levels offering. Workmanship is outstanding and the results are VERY significant (ie more than 60f reduction in dyno testing). And yes, all Forum members get a discount code on our website. VMPROCKS6
