I went with Levels because of core size, end tank design and price. Love it!
Do you know if you can keep the grill shutters? I haven't seen any install instructions but Levels is where I'm most keenly looking. (also curious about potentially installing without bumper removal)

Installed it over the weekend and god damn I love it. Pulls way, way harder with this Tune+93 octane tune as well. I'm in love with my car. Again. For the 90th time. Lol

Hello everyone, been stalking this forum trying to make an educated decision on which FMIC to purchase. I don't see a need to spend oodles of cash for an intercooler rated for 1000whp the block simply would never survive (imo). Looking in the $500-$600 range and all things being practical I would be good with something rated for 450-650whp. I checked out Mishimoto and MAP both seem to be good contenders at the moment. However, MAP shows some pretty interesting data on their website. They claim that their intercooler discharges at temperatures below ambient which without evaporative cooling or something of the like. That would never be possible.

This leaves me leaning towards Mishimoto who touted more reasonable test results.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I would take a look at Levels from what I've heard and researched, they seem to be the one of best intercoolers on the market for the money at $530. Not saying MAP or Mishimoto are bad or anything. I personally went with ATM and I'm waiting on it now.

I believe this was answered in another thread a long time ago but I don't remember where. If I remember correctly it had to do with the location of the ambient temp sensors.

Yeah, I don't care how you slice and dice it those results are complete BS. It makes me feel like MAP is amateur and not backed by any engineering. I went with mishimoto, they seem to have more brand equity.

I'm currently on travel for work and will have it at the end of the week when I get home. I probably won't be able to get it installed unit after the new year with all of the upcoming travel. I think it should be a modest improvement over stock.

I sincerely apologize for your apparent dismay over these graphs. This graph was actually generated by Tune + from AdamTuned by Adam himself. I am sure he would be happy to explain, in depth, the inadequacies of the line that seems to be causing you so much concern...from my understanding, this is actually ECU calculated ambient air temperature, which is absolutely imprecise. I recommend disregarding that line, personally, as it actually represents no tangible data and while we sincerely appreciate your concerns, unfortunately, that car is actually currently set up on an experimental intercooler for our long term goals on the track... and I must admit, it also is larger to support the CFM we feel we will need to target to achieve certain records.

At this point, I don't intend to revert back to the state of that tune to generate new graphs for the purposes of defending the intercooler which has a history of proven results and I would encourage you to research those results rather than relying solely on this singular instance of, what I would admit could be construed as confusing data ... do a little asking around and I am sure you will find out there have been a lot of positive results and our R&D process was well documented and supported by the community as a whole.

In any case, you always have the option of exorcising your freedom of choice and I completely encourage you in doing so. I don't intend to bash other companies development cycles or their designs to achieve any measure of notoriety so I will conclude by mentioning, we do also offer mishimoto and we actually will be having a mishimoto holiday sale that this will apply to if you are so inclined.

Wow, well played. I hate to burst your bubble but when you make statements like: "our intercooler is so efficient that the temps actually DROPPED" I see nothing confusing. You intentionally implied that the data showed that your magic radiator could cool hot air to temperatures below ambient air using ambient air. Not trying to bash but that's obviously marketing aimed at being misleading.
