I got rid of my 17 and the Mach 1 is every bit better than it.... Just sayin.
Mine is paid for and I was only going to trade even or get money back. My GT is heavily modded for track use so a Mach would not be an upgrade.

To the bold, I wouldn't, as I have both. No way.
I'm a truck guy at heart. Nothing like a F150 that drives away from mustangs.

Having bought a brand new 22 GT with a ford employee discount. I can easily sell mine for more than I paid or at very least break even. I have thought about selling it a few times recently. There are a few cars I would sell the mustang for but they are simply to hard to get. Just last weekend I texted my sales guy over at Audi and BMW both of them saying its about a year wait for the cars I want (RS and M cars). I would also sell for a Hellcat as they are going away next year.

If you are ok with not having a performance car then maybe its a good time to sell. But for me its hard to find another car.

take the money and run. you might be able to buy your own car back at a steep discount in 3-4 months. And for the love of god do NOT put a single penny into this current stock market.

Understood. I'm certain my F150 would easily take my Mustang between lights with the front axle engaged, the rear diff locked, and E85 in the tank. As it is, I love the part of my morning commute where I get to stand on it on the onramp merging onto a 4-lane. It's quicker than a 4x4 RCSB really needs to be.

I'd sell mine if I got the right offer. I enjoy performance cars a lot, but I don't develop any attachment to them. There's always something better out there.

If you’re making payments that’s a different story. If it’s paid off keep it. V-8 Challenger and Charger are gone next year.

I’ve had 2 cars and a motorcycle for the past 6 years. My current daily is 2022 VW GTI. Awesome little fun car the GTI. All my vehicles are paid for so I don’t need the money. I don’t drive the Mustang a lot. Sometimes I think about selling it but then I drive it and no way. I’ll wait until I’m hurting for money

Had the same, but opposite conundrum as you OP. Having my fun car/project car already ('66 Mustang, currently finishing up 302 swap) didn't really suit having another Mustang. Ran into some points that would've been nice to have that cargo space of at least a hatch/small SUV and still a sporty manual. Finally decided to look into the Focus ST I've wanted for the past 5-6 years (RS would've been *chefs kiss* but they're still $$$).

Made out nicely on the trade in the end. I still have my regrets here and there (and flak from everyone...), but I'm enjoying it as is. I already know my mod path unlike my past cars and it's still a perfectly fun city driver/canyon carver.

I just suggest doing your research/deep thinking and ensure it's what you want to do, OP. It sounds like a decent plan (the Rivians are quite nice in person), and keeps you down to one car payment/one car insurance. You can always come back to the Mustang platform if you lust for that pony car/muscle car fun again...just with some negatives - higher prices until shit cools down and having to finance again.

Just a question of if you'll miss it or not. I keep going back and forth on selling mine, but every time I drive it I remember how fun it is, lol.

If you really wanna sell it.....check with Vroom, Carvanna and even CarMax.....ALL will offer more than your dealer will!! :)

I sold my 2019 GT Vert for $5K more than I paid for it last October........smoothest car deal ever......Vroom just picked it up and the driver handed me a check.....BOOM!!😲

I had my PAINFUL right hip replaced in February and ordered a new 2022 GT Vert they claim will be built next week??:like::clap: Looking forward to getting in and out without hip pain!!:sunglasses:

GOOD LUCK!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

There’s always something “better”. The GT is fine and much more than most need for the thrill.

I think for me it was the move from a Gen2 to a Gen3 engine. The Gen3 definitely has more punch in it in N/A form.

I have an '02 Thunderbird that I don't drive and keep as an "investment". I also could have invested it in a different asset class and only time will tell if I made the right choice. It definitely won't appreciate like a good stock or pay regular dividends like a bond. But I like the car and don't regret buying it and storing it.

If money is no object and the GT is the car you'd buy again AFTER you sell it, then keep it. It sounds like the car is more an asset to you than a liability. This assumes that you have a place to keep it (store it) so it doesn't deteriorate in the elements as time goes by. Also remember that by keeping it you will end up serving it, not the other way around. You'll have to prevent damage while it sits, perform minimal maintenance over the years, insure it against loss (floods, fire, hurricanes, etc), and you probably won't get the same "joy of ownership" from it as you would if you drove it regularly. Especially a car that is meant to be driven.

If money is an issue, or you wouldn't buy it again after selling it, or you don't have a place to keep it, or you don't want to be bothered maintaining it, then definitely sell it now while you can get a great price for it. In this case the car is more liability than asset. Put the money aside until a better opportunity comes along. Maybe another car, maybe not.

Nice to be faced with such problems...

I thought my 16 was a beast. I still do.

I had an E85 tune with Lund and full bolt ons with an 18 manifold and my Mach 1 feels just as good on 93 with a better shifting transmission. I'm looking forward to adding headers, E85 and a higher redline to this one.
