I have a 2020 pp2 and I was rear ended by drunk driver at a stop sign. Although initially it did not look too bad, very slight damage to rear bumper, removal revealed structural damage to rear body panel and flex plate. The body shop will have to cut and weld and we went from 3k job probably to 7-10k.

What can I expect for diminished value with insurance? It's on the table as I checked in - just waiting for few weeks for repairs. What would you settle for given they don't make this anymore and it only has 6k miles?

I'm pretty sure this will now show up on carfax too so what's the best way to sell it down the road? Any potentialn issues that could arise from cut and weld or other things to look out for?

I've got to admit I'm dissapointed but it happens.

That sucks, glad your ok……IMO I’d sell. No car is ever the same after any accident. It’ll show up on the carfax, major repair to your car. Hopefully the guy had insurance and will pay for the damages……while it’s at the body shop, inquire about trading in for a Mach 1 or another mustang

Sell. It will never be right IME. Last time I had a near total I had them drag it to the dealer and they gave me a trade price as if it was fixed. I agreed to sign the insurance check over to them from the claim.

They made a bit more money on the car deal and I didn't have to fart around with getting it fixed, rental cars, etc.

I have experience with diminished value. You need to seek that compensation from the at fault party/insurance company. There are consultants that can help pursuing that, which might be wise when the amount at stake could be $5000. We were hit in a more minor accident in a Subaru - I did it on my own and got $1500 on top of the repair. Your own auto policy would never cover diminished value. You're pursuing payment from the other person's liability coverage to make your loss whole.

Do you have to disclose when trading it in or to carmax? How fast does it show up on carfax?

I've gotten diminished value checks in the mail before with no action on my end.
