  1. What kind of Mustang do you have and what tires are you running now?
  2. Why did you choose those tires? Was it the tread design, price, performance, marketing, etc. that led you to that tire?
  3. Are you aware that General Tire has a summer tire called the G-MAX RS?
  4. When shopping, did you consider General G-MAX RS? If not, why?

2. Price, performance, and longevity all led me to this tire. Good pace without heat cycling out too fast and price was very good.
3. I was not aware.
4. At 360 tread wear, this tire would be outside of my desired scope. Would probably make for a great commuter tire though.

I have a 19 350R. Pilot 4S on my Carbons, Conti ECS 02 on my aluminum wheels.

Chose the tires because my buddy works for Conti, easy choice! Needed a good HP Summer Tire to drive to the mountains and take on long road trips that is excellent in heavy rain. Had to play with sizes a bit from stock but the tread widths get us close to where we need to be in a 315/325.

I viewed Conti as the superior offering so did not entertain any general offerings.

Continental ECS 02.

I chose these because they had the sizes I wanted (305/30/19, 325/30/19) and were a good street replacement for the Cup 2's that came on my MACH1 HP.

Didn't even consider the G-MAX RS.
1) not available in a 325/30/19
2) UTQG: 360 AA A tires are not enough grip for a Mustang GT, even stock. These cars are heavy and fairly powerful, and can easily overwhelm a budget summer tire like the G-MAX RS. (Many members here have forced induction, so traction is important) UTQG numbers don't tell the whole story though, and I realize that the Continentals are a 340
3) Most people will base their tire purchase on reviews found on tire sites like Tire Rack, Discount tire etc. and these tires get "Ok" reviews and ratings. For the price, and just cruising around they're probably fine. People that demand the best performance and are willing to pay for it, will likely stick with the Michelin and Continental offerings

Hi Chris,
I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 305 30 19 and 315 30 19 on my 2017 PP1 GT.

I tend to be a brand name person and I have had good luck with Michelin. I have also heard good things about the 4S. I like tires with a tread wear rating around 300 so that I get decent traction and relatively long life. My usage is 99% street with some road course.

I haven't heard of the G-Max RS, but there are only a handful of tire names that I tend to recognize and usually those are factory tires from cars I'm familiar with.

I typically shop on Tire Rack and don't often take the time to look for tires that are different in size from my first choice. The sizes I'm running are what came on the Mach 1 with handling pack, so some might say they are OE and I shouldn't have replied to you. I realize there's probably some flexibility in what I choose with respect to size, but I do prefer to run the "correct" sizes.

I'm cheap, though. So if tires come available that are close in performance to what I am running and those tires are significantly less expensive I would definitely be interested.

1. EB, GT/PP1, Mach1; Kuhmo v730, Conti DWS 06+, Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3, BFG G-Force Comp2, GY Supercar 3, Michelin PS4S

2. price, known good performance
tread design/marketing have ZERO influence whatssover

3. Yes,

4. and not interested. The G-Max AS tire was only 'meh'. Really bad in cold+wet (sub-35F). For the price-point would buy Firestone Indy500 instead. Or keep running All Seasons

Life is too short to run 'meh' tires.
This is what sells tires

  1. GT on Nittos
  2. Needed a drag radial
  3. Yes
  4. Considered them for the front since they were low priced. But I wanted a matching set with the rears. Not sticky enough for the rear with this much power

2022 GT. Run Conti ECS in summer. Compared ECS and PS4S. Wanted the best in both dry and wet, both checked the boxes. Went with Conti due to price, won’t hesitate to go with them again.

I ran General all season tires on a Malibu when I had a long daily commute. They had pretty good tread wear, did fine in the winter months and were relatively inexpensive. I’m not likely to stray from Conti or Michelin at this point. Might consider the Supercar3’s but General would need to knock Michelin and Conti off the top of the pedestal in the various tire tests to get me to switch at this point.

1. 2019 Mustang GT currently running General GMAX RS in front and Continental ECS 02 in the rear.
2. I chose the GMAX RS because of the price, good reviews, and a previous positive experience with the GMAX AS-05 on another vehicle.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.

I replaced the rear pair of GMAX RS with the Continentals because I haven't been happy with how fast they wear. When the fronts wear out I will also replace them with the Continental ECS 02s.

The GMAX RS tires have all the grip I need. Running hard with a small group of S550s at the Tail of the Dragon, I didn't feel like grip was lacking compared to the other cars with Pilot Sport 4S, Continental ECS, and Firestone Indy 500s. I just didn't like how fast they wore out.

    1. Currently on Michelin Pilot AS3. Bought these because of a deal at Costco. All previous tires were DSW06, but those always had a "squishy" feel at turn in. Would have bought again, but the deal at Costco couldn't be beat.
  3. Are you aware that General Tire has a summer tire called the G-MAX RS?
    1. No, but I did have a good experience with the General all terrains I put on my 4runner.
  4. When shopping, did you consider General G-MAX RS? If not, why?
    1. I would have if they were available at Costco!

After rear ending someone because the shitty General tires that would NOT stop in the rain, I swore that I will NEVER buy a General Tire. I'm aware that they make better tires than the ones that my truck(97 F150) came with, but, refuse to even look.

2017 Mustang GT daily driver and I was running 20 inch Copper RS3-G1 and a few months ago switched to Continental DW Sport and have no regrets.

Why did you choose those tires? Was it the tread design, price, performance, marketing, etc. that led you to that tire?
I went with the Cooper's because they are a decent tire for the price and the car was naturally aspirated. Once I supercharged the car I needed something better and I had heard good things about the Continental DW Sport. I must say I have been very impressed with the Continental's.

Are you aware that General Tire has a summer tire called the G-MAX RS?
I am aware.

When shopping, did you consider General G-MAX RS? If not, why?
I looked at them but didn't have enough feedback on them.
I was in the tire industry for many years and have owned a few different General tires over the years such as the AS05 and the Altimax rt43 both did well. The G-max may be worth considering.
