Use both the V1 and Escort Max. The Max is much better around town and daily driving as it uses auto learn and is quieter by locking out all the falses but for highway or long trip the V1 is superior to anything IMHO. The range is insane, plus when tuned with custom sweeps its lightning fast.

What fuse do you use with the add a fuse adapter? Was gonna use the radio but it's a 20 amp and that seems high.

Fuse 23 is switchable and easiest to reach in the passenger fuse compartment. By switchable I mean it powers up with the starting of the car and powers down when you turn it off.

Be advised: When you order your add-a-fuse you want Micro2. Also, don't power anything off fuse 37. I had some issues powering my police scanner on that circuit.

Did you use 2 10 amp fuses for both?

No, just one. You plug the add-a-circuit into the fuse port then plug the 10A fuse into the back of the add-a-circuit. If you run a second device to that circuit then you add another fuse.

I live in rural SE MN. Very little city driving for me. So I don't really need GPS. Escort Passport 8500 X50 here, hard wired. It's the best detector I have ever had. It picks up Ka from an incredible distance. I bought another one for my Accord. Drive smart and you will greatly reduce your chances of getting a ticket. I don't speed over hills or around corners. Between them I have been saved plenty of times. Instant on radar when you are "first in line", and Laser are the biggest risks. I have yet to come across laser locally. If you are expecting a free pass to speed you will be disappointed.

Lidar will pick you off immediately so there is no warning. Some people in areas with Poliscans that fire constantly can get some scatter but usually a Lidar alert means you've already had your speed acquired.

For Lidar protection you have to go active, and Anti Laser Priority is the best in the business right now. But now you're up into serious money so you have to weigh your true risk relative to your driving style.

I've got a Valentine one (K, Ka) and a Redline on the left (Ka only) but the free app Waze is far and away my best defense.

Are you by any chance using segmentation on Ka band with your RedLine?
Ka2: 33.704 to 32.896 (33.8 turned on)
Ka5: 34.592 to 34.808 (34.7 turned on)
Ka8: 34.378 to 35.618 (35.5 turned on)

Based on 'Sharp21' post.... are they still using X band in Houston?

Yep, 2,5,8 Ka band segmentation on the Redline. K off, X off, Laser off.

I've never seen X in operation, but i've heard it reported around the Baytown area but truthfully the only thing I see over there is Ka 33.8. X band is such a polluted frequency I doubt they could defend it in court today.

I think a lot of X band reports are coincidental falses paired with a cop sighting. Cops don't always have their radar on.

Thank you....
How are you dealing with alerts that are being generated by active lane assist and blind-spot monitoring systems? I've noticed that you have your K band off. How much is that helping?

I'm using the RedLine as well.... Just got it back from Escort.... they did their 'Tune Up' on it. It has an outstanding range.... however, often I have to rely on the 'rabit' method.

Always rely on the rabbit method, but Waze is my best defense right now. It's got more saves than all this other electronic gadgetry put together.

I use Yavi one with custom sweeps to sort out BSM frequencies and keep the Valentine quiet. That and low speed muting keeps it about as quiet as most other heavily filtered detectors.

The Redline has freakishly long range. I've seen as much as six miles out of it, but the Valentine One is still my workhorse. I can't live without the arrows.

I used to believe no township was stupid enough to still be running Xband, until I moved last month and discovered not only does my town still run X band in the crown vics (KA in the utility interceptors), but another town I pass through on my drive home is also using X band.

Guess I can't turn that function off anymore

What a joke, X Band antennas are gigantic and speed acquisition times are slow in the best conditions.

From left to right

Ka, K and X band antennas.
