They are fine with BLIS so I'd assume the speed control is ok too.

I ordered a car with adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring - does anyone have experience with the Mustang's sensors for those systems setting off detectors? Different cars seem to use different bands - some set off some detectors, and some don't (that's what I can gather from the web so far, anyway). I'm considering either a Valentine 1 or a Passport RedLine.

(background: My old car had 130hp, downhill with a tailwind...my new GT will have 435hp. I have absolutely no plans to drive recklessly - it's just that police in my area have been known to pull people over for accidentally doing 33 in a 30, so I just want to minimize my chances of getting a ticket and sending my insurance skyrocketing)
My GT is loaded, none of the systems do anything with my 9500ix.

However, I should note that the 9500ix has a setting for driving sensors so it automatically ignores low power, high saturation (ie, close and directed) signals. While I do not believe bounce from YOUR ACC/BLIS will set off the sensors, you may still see some false positives without these settings. Both the V1 and Redline are slightly more sensitive units but are also older and do not have certain features which make a detector actually usable day to day. See more here:

I'd have to check the manual honestly, I went through all the settings when I bought it years ago and haven't really touched it since.

Here's pics of my install with the mirror mount and mirror tap.

A few things to note: the mirror cable is run INSIDE the mirror mount, between the left machine screw and the mirror stem. It runs right into the cable/strain relief collar which my mirror mount is tightened down right behind. Right now I only used one wire tie to basically loop the 9" mirror tap up around the top of the stem. I didn't want to pull it too taut, if only because I sometimes remove it for use in other vehicles (when traveling).

I just did some digging - I think it's part of the TSR band; mine is so old it doesn't support it. :( I just ordered a new one to see if if that fixes my gps issue and that as well.

It looks good, I just ordered my mount for my Escort Passport Max. The suction cup is giving out on me. I will post some pics of that as well.

Update Escort Passport Max

As promised the pics of the mount installed, took about 5 min. The mount fits great, it also had a spot to let the factory plug, going to the mirror to pass threw.

This is the info about the mount that is designed to work with the Escort Passport Max.

J28 Design Inc.

BlendMount Radar Detector Mount for Beltronics / Escort, Ford, Mirror ID-FOR-012
Radar Brand: Escort; Radar Model: Passport Max/Max2 (Vehicle Year/Model: 2015/Mustang GT)

I added the year and model info, while ordering, theirs an option for you to describe the vehicle you have. I picked out the mirror from the pictures on their sight that looked similar to the design of my mirror. :gossip:

Thanks for the pics and description. One question - can you adjust it to get the detector closer to the mirror?

Yes you can. I like it as far away from the mirror, it makes it easier in case I need to hit the mute button or change the brightness on my radar detector.

FWIW, I have had detectors in all my vehicles (including motorcycles) since the early 70's. I currently have 4 vehicles and 4 detectors. In all that time I have never been bagged by radar. I won't be without one and actually get nervous if I find myself driving a vehicle without a detector.

Between the cost of the ticket, insurance surcharges and lost good driver points a simple 10 mph over the limit citation can cost $1000.

In the area where I live only the state police use laser on a regular basis and I typically don't/can't drive fast enough on the highway to be concerned. A friend of mine is a local cop and they all hate laser because it requires more work (has to be aimed) to use. He says why would I use it when I can write all the tickets I want with radar mounted to the dash that I can set to alarm at whatever speed I want.

Just curious as to how many of you are going to purchase one, also are you going to hard-wire it in with a fuse tap stealthily, or just use the cigarette lighter power source.

I was thinking about tapping a fuse that only gets power when the vehicle is on, and putting another switch between the power and the radar, so I can have it off all the time, and when I want it on, I just flick the switch.
Definitely hard wire it. Personally, I have my Beltronics RX65 (has same antenna/receiver section as Escort 8/9500ix if I remember right, and they're <$200 on sale) with a long power cable from the mirror, up into the headliner, down the A-pillar, between the dash-door gap, and into the fusebox (though not in a Mustang atm) in an only-on-ignition fuse tap. With a powered mirror this would be a lot easier job. Really looking forward to the Mustang because I'd love the 'Mute' button in the gearshift :headbang: - have seen it done. Cops in my area drive around with their Ka band on and the only time in the last 5 years I've been busted I was without it in the wife's car. Don't bother with the fuse, with a mirror mount the buttons are easy enough to access.

I think the mirror tap is the best way to go, its' easy and fast. Also when you turn your car off and open the door the radar detector shuts off. I don't have to power it on or off. As soon as I start the engine it comes right on.

This isn't the nineties, no need to bother with old timey gadgets like radar detectors and head units when you can just steal iPods, smartphones and gps units. Plus RoI isn't there unless you are an expert... imagine taking the time to steal a unit and it's a four year old $30 Cobra Wal-Mart special?

I take my radar detector off and carry it with me, the only time I might leave it in the car is at work. It takes about 3 seconds to remove it from the mount. :ninja:
