I still have family in Mn. They tell me there is a state wide speed limit for snowmobiles. 55 or something stupid. We used to get on the St.Croix around Hudson and let em rip.

Yes to trail speed limits. Newer Stock trail sleds are 110 mph machines off the assembly line. Record number of trail deaths the last few years in the Northwoods.
Got a cousin and some friends in Hudson, nice town for sure.

Only 110? i remember when the Indy 600 came out, and we were busting 100 on them in the 90s…more great memories playing Dodge ball on snowmobiles back then

I had a '72 Mustang that I had put a rebuilt 351C, a C6 trans, and a 4.56:1 9' rear in. The first weekend that came along after getting the car running, my brother and I decided to hit the bars and celebrate. Later, about a mile from my apartment, I got behind a slow driver on a two lane road. Not wanting to drive 35 mph, with another car coming in the other direction, I passed the car and narrowly missed a head on with none other than a local parish deputy. I saw the lights turn on and the deputy turned around and came after me. I pulled over on a side road and waited for him and his partner to tell me what to do when they arrived. After performing the fender lean and search, we discussed the upcoming arrest and charges: reckless driving, passing on a double yellow lane, excessive speeding in a marked zone, expired license plate and safety inspection, and DUI. The deputy asked me where we had been and where we were going. I told him. Then he asked why I was driving with an illegal plate and inspection, and I told him. When he asked to look under the hood, I knew I was free. Although, I was escorted to my apartment.

Getting to 100 on a sled is common. Getting it over 100 takes a lot of effort and power just like boats.

Damn, that's some serious luck right there. If that happened to me in Phoenix, I'd be in jail, my car would be impounded, and I'd likely have a suspended license. (We also have a big street racing problem here.)
