You may have a sports car, but there is a time and place to reach those speeds. The freeway is not it.
I wouldn't consider 95 very fast on many freeways. Then again I drove the turn-pike to high school for rush hour. So my perception tends to be a little more lenient than the person who hops on the freeway occasionally. You could pass a state trooper doing 85 in a 65 during rush hour on the turn pike here and they wouldn't pull you over.

It always amazes me that people, in general, are in such a hurry to get no-where. I live in SC and constantly see people on 2 lane roads (speed limit 55) going 70 - 75 and then turn into a driveway or gas station just for a drink. My last ticket was when I was 22, driving a 1989 Mustang GT. Ticket cost me $275 and fortunately no points if I paid the ticket before court. I'm now 50 and NEVER go over 5 mph over the speed limit on the main roads. I always do the speed limit on secondary roads or residential areas. Oh well, maybe it's just me, but I don't see the need. If you want to go fast, go to a track.
Just my opinion.

On our freeways here, 55 is the normal limit, with some areas going down to 50 and then some at 45. the H3 is 60 and theres a short part of the H1 at 60. 70 would probably be the safest MAX speed you could go on any of those major freeways with a 55 and 60 limit. 95 is absolutely unheard of as a daily limit here.

Ditto! I'm now 52 and it amazes me how some jackwagon has to blast past me on the interstate at 80 in a 60, cut off a car swinging from the far left lane to the exit ramp and then I pull up right behind him at the next traffic light. Sure, he beat me off the interstate by 28 seconds, but there we are together at the red light. And this happens a lot at the same traffic light on my way in to work in the morning and the same Chevy Tahoe with 26" wheels and ghetto crap all over it.

Occasionally I'll get a little above the 5 MPH over, :D but I try to keep it down as a whole. I'm no angel, but at the same time I do my best to not be an asshole in a fast car.
When I get on the interstate in the morning, I purposely find a car doing between 63-68 and get behind them to pace myself. I want to get in the mode of driving a sane speed first thing. Of course while I'm doing this, I feel like I'm in reverse since the two lanes to my left are at 80+. (in a 60 zone)

My sister-in-law, who lives in SC, warned me about Georgia cops. I was traveling through Georgia to SC, in my new GT. I was coming down an empty mountain highway and enjoying how well the car was handling (and not paying attention to the speed). With my luck, a GA trooper pulled out and stopped me. A 300 lb "Dukes of Hazard" officer comes up to my window and asks me if I knew how fast I was going. I gulped and said 'no, sir". I answered his questions with 'yes sir...no sir". He handed me the ticket and said "be careful of that car it can get away from you". It was a Warning Ticket!". When I got to my brother's, my sister-in-law insisted on looking at the ticket...she said she had never heard of any one getting one!

I don't really find my home state that bad at all. I go 10mph over limit, as do most drivers here, with exceptions of course. On interstates, most speed limits are 70 -- a few areas are lower. And then I go with the flow of traffic - up to a point. Even when I've been doing 85, I've had people fly past me.

I turned 55 this past Sunday. I've been driving, all over the country, since 1975. I've had ONE speeding ticket. It was in Georgia in a little, tiny, speed-trap town. I was ticketed for doing 46 in a 45 zone. I argued it in court. It cost me $90.

In fact, now that I think about it, I lived in NC for 3 years and that was the worst for cops stopping drivers. They never had to stop me, but I saw lots of it everyday. That was back around '80 - '83. Things may be different there now.

I use the posted+10% rule. It works very well- I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in 20+ years. Here in Minneesoootah, they have a new trick: set a road construction sign(even if they aren't), and that means an automatic lowering of the speed, and doubling or tripling the fine. There are some cities here(Edina come to mind) where they will ticket you for 57 in a 55- I think tickets are what pay their city budget and bonuses.

Minnesota has been stating that 'any' speed above the posted construction zone speed will get you a ticket for several years! This came about after more than one worker was killed by motorists speeding through construction zones.

As for Georgia...I have Minnesota plates. I can easily travel +5 mph over the limit here in MN, but if a MN car goes into Wisconsin, the driver has a good chance in getting a ticket if they are going just a few mph above the WI limit.

Yeah unless you have jammers, you don't want to be messing around in GA. Locals and state are all running laser these days.

There was a cop in line behind me at a country gas station. I paid for my soda and walked outside and hopped in my GTPP, started her up and put the windows down.
The cop came outside and walked right up to the passenger side,

Cop-"This brand new? How you like it?"

Me-"Yeah 2015 I love it."

Cop-"I'm more of a Chevy guy but this looks nice in gray."

Me-"Actually, it's guard, which is like a green."

Cop removed his sunglasses, steps back and says, "You know what it is... Which way are you headed? North or south?"

Me-"North, headed home."

Cop-"You got my permission to get on it a lil bit."

He turned and walked off. So as I pulled up to the stop sign to leave, I put her in track mode, revved her up and pulled out of there sideways.

Then I slowed down and looked back at him just to see him smiling back at his cop car.

True story.

Just noticed you guys mentioning blue lights...here the cops have to have red, as in 'stop'. There have been cases of people being pulled over by rent a cops, or at least their cars, w/ blue lights and being robbed.... Just wondered how universal, if at all, this is...

Oh, and did you record your mpgs on your trip?
South Dakota state troopers have yellow lights. Never seen that before. I've only been her for about 9 months now.
