Hey is anyone with Procharger having any issues with car overheating. It only overheats in stop and go traffic with the air on. Ford is trying to blame the tune for the issues. They have already replaced the fans.

Thanks for any help

So what temps are you seeing when it's overheating. My head temperature gauge normally gets up in the 220F range when I'm driving it like I want to.

Running stock thermostat coolant Temps getting up to 220 to 230 and heads up to 240 to 245. At that point I can cut off ac and it will cool down back to around 205 coolant and 215 head temp.

That seems high even with stock thermostat and a Procharger. It wouln't hurt to go with the 170F thermostat and get your tune revised for it though.

Are you sure that it's filled and no air in the system? Might be a long shot but maybe AC Compressor is going bad causing more load/draw from the engine?

Also surprised you were able to get Ford to replace the fans with the Procharger on there lol.

Yeah, I'm surprised they warranteed anything. Anyhow mine today was running in stop and go traffic, ambient around 67-70 degrees.... 205-212 ect and 218-220 cht. I usually turn on the a/c to get the fans to come on (stock procharger tune doesn't turn on the fans earlier) And then it usually hovers around 205. Once moving drops to 190's ect then solid 185 ect and 195-196 cht at speed cruising. That's with 170 reische. Also, I have grille delete with mesh inserts, so more open.

Change out the stock thermostat and your problem will be solved. I live in SE Texas and I had the same issue until I changed mine out. Easy fix.

U need to make sure your fans are coming on high early enough to keep the car from running that hot.Usually when up to operating temp,if u turn the ac on both fans should run and run on high speed setting.Fans have a couple different settings and if they dont come on when they are suppose to u will have problems.

1. Make sure you have enough coolant and no air in the system.
2. 170 thermostat
3. Make sure the tune is set for fans to come on early

Those temps are WAY too high.

Even with the stock thermostat, I've never read about anyone with temps that high. Something else is up. Either air in there, or fans aren't coming on correctly is just my guess. Did you ever have the thermostat out? Not sure what puting it in backwards would cause.

My paxton car with the 170 tstat is in the 180's-190's. Highest I've seen it was the other day in 95 deg heat, car was 198 cht.

If you are FI screwing around in stop n go traffic you can easily hit 245 CHT.
I saw a massive difference after venting the rear of the hood: MAX CHT from 245F down to 215F!

1. Get the Reische 170 version 2
2. Vent the rear of the hood. I was able to put my upper grill BACK IN after this since the problem is getting air OUT from under hood more than getting it IN.
To vent the rear:
a. Remove battery cover.
b. Remove wiper blade arms: unscrew arm nut a thread or two, place soft wood block UNDER arm near shaft, tap on nut with hammer or another block of wood forcing shaft off of arm supported by wood. It can be PITA to get arm to release from taper shaft the first time as its forged on due to soft metal.
c. Then remove coping.
d. Carefully remove weatherstrip from underside of hood.

PM if this doesnt lower your traffic temps at least 20F even with stock tstat.
