That happened to me as well. Once you update Sync to 3.4, you need to download the freaking maps again, so they show 1.19 on your settings. I wouldn't use that other site unless you absolutely have no choice, which doesn't seem to be your case. If you're anal, like me, and want 1.19 to show on your settings, just download the maps again. By the way, I couldn't stand the blue from Sync 3.4, so changed the theme to Lincoln MY20, and now it's gray. And also got rid of the blue pony and Ford animations, in favor of the Ford Performance one, which is way better. Now I'm done. Ha ha. Hope this helps.
Thanks.......How do you DL maps (only) separately?

Yes, I have. See my attached pics:
1 - Android Auto on the main/blank screen (running Waze this time, Google Maps is identical)
2 - Android Auto again - here you can see that i was able to snap a pic of when you start navigating, for a second it flashes the right number, but wrong units (compare to #4, I had same destination, should've been 14mi, not 14km), time correct. But then it disappears within like a second, see #1!
3 - This is what it appears like on a shared screen with trip computer.
4 - Factory nav, working correctly.

Basically this is the "-- km" i was talking about. For a second, Android Auto (whether Google Maps or Waze) flashes right number + wrong units and then immediately goes away.
The little filling bar countdown till turn i get only on factory nav, but i think that's normal.
What phone are you using? Are you running the newest version of Android? Have you checked your AA settings in the phone as well as your google maps settings?

New UI and graphics, a bit faster/snappier to respond to inputs.

Galaxy S9 with Android 10. I know Android 11 is out, but not available for my AT&T work phone yet.

Maps: 10.49.2
Waze: 4.66.0.1
Android Auto: 5.5.602944-release

Checked, all are up to date as far as I can see. Android Auto + Google Maps + Waze all have units set to automatic, never had issues on my other car ('18 Accord with AA) or wife's Niro.

So am I to understand that seeing the "--km" is definitely not normal and that you get that "countdown" bar even for AA nav?

I only tested AA nav once via my friend’s phone so I could continue to be annoyed at the lack of it displaying in the gauge cluster for Apple CarPlay. However, from my knowledge and what I’ve seen, it’s not normal, no - on the infotainment/Sync3 screen, are the units in metric as well or are they the proper imperial units? Does it properly display the distance to next turn on the infotainment screen despite the gauge cluster?
It could be a matter of needing to do a master reset on your Sync3 system, as there’ve been a lot of reported issues with AA after the 3.4 update that seem to stop after a master reset.

Infotainment instructions seem fine and are in miles, while the cluster goes to km.

I did a master reset already as my voice recognition package didn't load correctly. The master reset didn't help that, but reinstall of the entire map package did.
So maybe I ought to reset it one more time.

Anyone else seeing the issue I get?

Can a 2016 be upgraded to Sync3 3.4? I just did the download from the ford site to a USB and update to my '16 which brought it from Sync3 2.0 to Sync3 3.0 (build 19205_PRODUCT).

The update seemingly took hours, and I didn't have the flash drive plugged in when it finally said it finished, so I don't know how to update the Ford site to correctly reflect the current version on my car.

Yes and no. Officially through Ford, no. You stop at 3.0 build 19205. Unofficially you can go to Cyanlabs and download 3.4 and maps 1.19 from them.

Ahh good, Thanks. I paid ford for the Nav 1 19 update already so I'll try to get that onto the car today. Not sure if the 3.4 update will be worth it, heh.

So my issue (now solved) may be Apple Mac specific. When I originally downloaded the 3.4 zip file, my Mac immediately unzipped the file. I ended up with 7 files and no folder named SyncMyRide. The 5 files that should have been in that folder each had SyncMyRide\ appended to the file names. When I tried the USB this morning, I immediately got the Error 05.

This afternoon I created the SyncMyRide folder and moved the 5 files into it. I then renamed the 5 files by removing the SyncMyRide\ from the file names.
I get the same problem when unzipping on linux.
The files in the zip are named "SyncMyRide\5U5T-14G381-ED.tar.gz"

I renamed the files and put them in a folder named SyncMyRide so the folder structure looks like this:
A56cp3P.png

Same as it does on the Ford website:
usb_drive_folder_layout_mac.jpg

However, the car gave an error.
Installation failed
error code: PKG_ERR03
download files again and retry to install
fRI12KU.jpg

I downloaded again. I verified the files were the same with a MD5 hash. The hashes match.
Code:
> md5sum 5U5T-14G381-ED.zip
2ccf0758398139768f69200e747db5c9 5U5T-14G381-ED.zip
> md5sum 5U5T-14G381-ED-1.zip
2ccf0758398139768f69200e747db5c9 5U5T-14G381-ED-1.zip
I tried again with a USB 3 stick and it said it wasn't recognized. Both are formatted with the exFAT file system.
There are no log files on either USB stick.

Going the WiFi route, it seems to be stuck on "Searching for Updates"
Just spinning and spinning...

I would find a Windows PC and use that for the download / extraction

I agree with Greg. It should download fine on a Windows PC.

Glad to hear that it worked. How do you like the upgrade?
