I’m following this thread as it is interesting and I want to find out how approaching the dealer with the issue goes.
Also, how often does something like this happen on S550 GTs?
(i have a ‘21)
Lastly, @Beto5.oh had you not been the one doing the oil change and it been done at the dealer…
do...
I never knew that about any pressurized air under the hood could cause improper cooling.
thanks for that info!!!
scratch the thought of adding a vent in lower bumper 🫤
I guess the factory hood vents/ heat extractors arent all that great about pulling air out?
do you think its possible to open...
thanks for explaining and for the full picture
I can see it has less bend going on
I think there are a few tubes out there that help eliminate the factory accordian.
I will have a look; thanks again for the input
nice under-the-hood details 👍🏻
is that metal or dense plastic?
is one or the other proven to stay cooler by not heat-soaking?
I would imagine if air is flowing in whichever type of tube, it doesn’t really have time for the air to get hotter, right???
I see it still has 2 accordion style ribs…...
figured I would add a new thread regarding Sound Tube Delete on the 5.0 as it seems to be a pretty popular modification to not only clean up the engine bay but also allow better access to the oil dipstick.
If this helps someone else, great 😊
I just removed my sound tube and had found some...
must be nice to have a garage 😉
probably super convenient if you have hood struts?
I need to get those for sure
tinkering around the prop rod is a pain
short video here to show some of the stuff required to do, to swap springs
ABS cables need moved out of the way so maybe they accidentally disconnected one or more ?
hopefully didnt damage any of them
did they do an alignment afterwards?
this is a must!
if not, there could be a few things out...
granted, I’ve never owned an engine this big or powerful but the amount of retained heat after running a while is crazy.
maybe there is a way to port more air in from the lower portion of the bumper on the passenger side?
to blow fresh air over the top of the engine
kind of like the ram air...
thank you for this input 😊
I had thought about dremeling the channels out of the bottom portion of the extractor assembly to have more ventilation but may end up with extra water ingress ?
thank you 😊
its my first Ford and definitely first v8
(had about 1 yr now and love it)
we have had some ridiculously hot days in Maryland.
the day I mention was actually cooler and my drive to work is about 25 miles of highway and no traffic so plenty of airflow.
I guess that thick matting...
Just a quick question to see if this is normal…
my car is a 2021 GT (17k miles)
on a whim, I decided to check my oil at the office before going out to pick up lunch.
my car had been sitting for at least 3 hours and when I opened the hood it was still pretty darn warm/ hot under there...
ok, definitely sounds like you know what to keep an ear out for.
and also sounds like its a non issue
I have read some folks saying they think that Ford put in an additive at the factory as a lot of folks dont get the tick until after their first oil change?!
(now wouldnt that be something)...
ok
how recent was your last oil change?
were you running the car hard or for a long period?
i noticed my ticking when i pulled up to a Walgreens drive-thru on a ~ 97F degree day after driving home from work for a good 30min from 70-85mph most of the way.
really kinda sounds like metal pinging...
both are very nice looking
mine came with same exact blade spoiler as what is on yours.
recently swapped out for the Scott Drake one which is sort of a less obnoxious wicker bill style.
i did an H pipe on mine and think it sounds perfect; a bit deeper than the X pipe style but i’m sure either...
