Great Point !!

I agree it is all over the instrument cluster.

if you look at the oil guage

L= load H= Horse power

then you get on the L side 100+300= 400

H side you have 140+340= 480

so safe to say 480hp and possibly 400tq?
YOU NAILED IT !! It has to be 480 HP , 400 TQ - Those are the only numbers I would consider in order to buy a 2018 Ford Mustang GT

I'm going for the 900HP Whipple and the 10-speed auto with its deeper first gear and two overdrive gears on the top end.

Ford have already stated the gearbox has been upgraded to cope with the extra torque of the upgraded engine.....and the current Coyote already has 400 lb/ft

:)

(I think you're way too high on the HP though ;) )

Here's a engine walk-around video from one of Ford's top engineers. Its profiled in the truck, but it's relevant to the Mustang.

The engine will get more usable TQ, than it will get in high-rpm HP.

Don't see why its not at all possible if we can get that with a Ford Racing Performance Pack Stage 3 ! And now we have direct injection as well.
Please Ford knows its going to take a big bump in HP / Torque numbers to
sell this new refresh, esp. when a lot of Stang fans are not excited with the
hood / front fascia !!

Have you seen what they announced with the Ford GT?

And you think they waited to see fans reaction to the front fascia before doing the engine development and setting power goals?

It's already proven that having the biggest HP number doesn't dictate sales. The S550 has been outselling the camaro with a lot less power and torque.

The Mustang was a better looking sports car than the Camaro - now the refresh has not been popular with many people. So take that with a small bump in hp / tq numbers and some people might be willing to jump to a Chevy Camaro with more power and does not look too bad either.

Whoa- hold the phone! It's STILL better looking than the Camaro ... not that that's saying much

Mustang versus Camaro - looks department

I would agree always, but there are other people out there that could be put off by the refresh and a small bump in hp / tq and then go to a Chevy dealer - see the Camaro and say heck does not look too bad and it will smoke a so called sexy stang - and say "Where do I sign?"

Personally I am going to get a 2018 Ford Mustang GT Premium, Performance Package, 10-Speed Auto & Lighting Blue. The Aftermarket will come out strong for the new Stang so I am not worried about the hood, front fascia or HP / TQ
numbers (I know Ford will knock it out of the park). If not there are always going to be aftermarket performance mods to be had.

Doesnt work like that. Those goals were set in stone at least a year or two ago.
