WOW… my Mustang top speed is 24 mph higher than a Tesla Model X…?

I had a Tesla next to me at a stop light. My windows were down because my car makes pleasant noise… his windows were up, because NO exhaust note!

The light turned green and he jumped on it… I slowly eased out the clutch and tip-toed down the road. He was at the next light, and I pulled up next to him. He rolled down the window and asked why I didn’t give him a run?

I replied, “ I could tell by your after-market exhaust that you were heavily modified.”

He had ZERO sense of humor, and politely told me to F Off.
I love it. I do that all the time. My second favorite is when I’m actually going over the speed limit on say a 45 mile an hour road and they got a fly by you at 70 just to show how much money they wasted on their car as I enjoy my exhaust and some good music.

That was a good year.
1973 a “…good year.” For muscle cars… not really based on all the performance stats.

1971 was this the last good year, and it was weak compared to 1967 - 1969.

Those are both weak compared to today’s specs.

We have the greatest “Muscle Cars” of all time if you compare performance numbers.

Hell, even some of todays SUV’s have better performance numbers than some of the reported Muscle Cars of the 60’s & 70’s.

Life is good my friends, rejoice in your high powered Mustang as we take this greatness for granted.

Most minivans built in the last 10 years can't handedly beat a bone stock 1970 Hemi Cuda in 0-60 & 1/4 mile. And brake quicker. And get way better fuel economy ha-ha

You picked a ringer… the 1970 Trans Am was a 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.
The 2020 Ford Explorer was 5.2 seconds, the 1993 GMC Typhoon was 5.3 seconds… there are PLENTY more… just named a few.

The AAR came with G60/15 polyglass biasply tires on a 15x7 inch rim. You think you have traction problems.

A 235/60R15 is about the same size as the G60.

The Hemi Cuda came with F60/15's on a 6.50 wide rim

Every manufacturer and magazine uses a roll out nowadays
The Mustang's 0-60 numbers are not with rollout as far as I know......

I hope this is not correct:
See my post above about the tires they came with. Put those tires on your mustang or put your mustang tires on the Cuda.

Top speed was due to 3.90 or 4.11 gears and a 3 or 4 speed trans with top gear being 1 to 1. No overdrives back them. Also no traction control. TC was our right foot.

This guy nailed it… I had bias plies on my first car… it had a 7.4 liter and the bias plies were “tractionless”.

Driving a Hemi Cuda would be like driving a whippled S550 with 235/50R18 tires.

That would be like driving on ice I’m guessing.

"Motor Trend flogged a Hemi 'Cuda for their May 1970 issue. They walked away with a 0 to 60 time of 5.8 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 14 seconds at 102 mph. That's quite a bit faster than the Camaro SS 396 which could go from 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds and sprint the quarter in 14.77 seconds at 98.72 mph."

I stand corrected minivans are almost as fast ha-ha
