i drive in brooklyn with my subaru forester 2018. i had to do lower control arms at 30k (2 years old) from the pot holes. The way it was treated goes a long way into what works and what doesn't from my point of view. Vacuum lines rubber vinyl yea it should never break depending on age? right????? someone should tell rock auto there in the wrong business.

secondly this world owes you no explanation why something breaks and with no warning. that being said WHEN (not if) something breaks it will break in anyway it wants whether you know it to be a quick fix or you spend 2k in parts to come back to square one.

i spent my whole life explaining to people how there (newish) product is broken and it shouldn't be like that because x y z and i tell them well the shits broke isn't it ? u want me to fix it? lol

Some Ford boot lickers have been properly conditioned to think that it is OK for your car to fall apart....Meanwhile there are 20 year old Japanese cars out there still running with the same engine oil since 2012.

In almost 10 years of owning my old car, a manual mazda3 with 75k at purchase, i had to replace basically the entire suspension, the entire AC 1.5 times over, all motor mounts (were all broken), a couple of window motors, many tires, brakes, and fluids. Put 200k miles on it to bring it to 270k before it was totaled. I did all this over the years, and still have the impression that it was a dependable, reliable, and cheap car to maintain, and would recommend another in a heartbeat. I say all this to add that how/how much you drive matters. Expecting no repairs in 9 years in my condition was a setup for failure in my case.

People really believe it though. I had a 2000 Honda Accord fifteen years ago that was a money pit. Couldn’t fix stuff fast enough before something else broke.

I'm only about 4K in and so far the only issue i've had is the obnoxious wheel hop, poor panel alignment, and a couple factory installed cosmetic issues that i caught but aren't worth having the dealer fix (because they will likely screw up more stuff while it is in their hands).

LOVE the 6spd
LOVE the way it looks
LOVE the interior

its just always a nice experience. i kinda wish it didn't have so much road noise but i spend a lot of time around 80mph so that might just be me.

Hey man, I've run into a similar issue and fixed it myself, its very easy, but it is also covered by a recall IIRC. Open your trunk, on the passenger side there is a harness. It pinches when closing, and has severed some of the wires. Get a few 6in pieces of wire, unwrap the loom and you should see a few a wires that have been pinched apart. Simply cut, trim and splice and solder in the new wire pieces where the existing ones are broken. That is of course if it's something you are comfortable with.

And on both of those vehicles you spent thousands of dollars maintaining and repairing them. Replaced tons of parts from brakes and batteries to lights, tires, suspension, etc.
I replaced maintenance items, sure is a ton cheaper than a payment every month.

What is your point? 4 year old cars need tires and brakes too.

I never put people on ignore, you might be the first.

No, you did repairs when things broke, not just normal maintenance. Try to say different about a DD'd 26 year old Dodge truck or 10 year old F-150, and you'd just be lying.

The point? The OP is crying over normal vehicle ownership. Vehicles need more than just routine maintenance. Things break, all the time.

I think sometimes things get heated because of small details that don t get typed into theses conversations. FACT, people get sick and machines breakdown. It s just a matter of how often and sometimes why.
I ve had 1/2 dozen Porsche s which I ve always sold after warranty or CPO warranty ran out. Not because I couldn't t afford repairs either. There s a point that some may just not feel comfortable with spending more money on something... and anything German you really feel like your getting ripped off with those costs. Is it a higher quality product, yes, I think so but that not the point here, they break too.
So I don t think either side here is right or wrong, the devil is in the details.
