I have always been against adding any additives to oil, coolant, gas tanks etc. The only one I would add is fuel injector cleaner as needed or the necessary friction modifier for the rear end. Per the manual running tank of 93 and more frequent oil changes sounds like best way to maintain. BUT I am no expert on E-85, I am interested in running it on my daily in the near future.

I know methanol is abrasive without some kind of lube in it. I "assume" ethanol is also. E85 does have some gas and that should lube the pump and injectors but I like to play on the safe side

A 20 dollar bottle of lube lasts almost a year.

The reason for the regular gas every oil change interval in the F150 is for lubrication. Also, would suggest not using the Lucas based on this:

They recommend MarvelMysteryOil instead. I add a few ounces every couple tanks and havent looked back
Glad I read this. I have a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner on hand now. I definitely won’t be using it in my Mustang.

I ran from Lucas products years ago when I saw a diff with their additive added. The diff had a clear rear cover. After about 10 seconds of running it was nothing but foam. Trapped a lot of air
Yeah I don’t use Lucas anything. Nothing they produce is worth it even if they’re paying you. Zero products of quality

I did just clean my injectors two weeks ago and replaced the factory fuel pump which burnt up on me (with no warning) while I was out on a drive. Had to get towed home from a busy intersection.

I cut the pump open to inspect it and found that the brushes had burnt up inside. The sock filter was also dirty with 6900 miles on the car and 3 years of running E85. I should also add that I was running a JMS BAP which wasn’t boosting voltage constantly (only when at 50% throttle or more).

I would also say that during those 6900 miles, I sporadically ran at least 7-10 tanks of 93 through the engine.

Wow... maybe I shouldn't mess with anything and just do more frequent oil changes every 5k and run a tank of 93 every 1k just to be safe

Mine is an F150 application so not exactly apples to apples but I’ve run e85 for a conservative 55 off the 65,000 miles I’ve put on it in the 3 years I’ve had it. I only run regular gas when I’m road tripping

I've been running e85 and then oil changes every 5,000 miles. At oil change I run a tank of 93 then back to e85 so far no issues!

Is adding lubricants necessary or just a myth?
I throw in a very small amount of MMO per tank for lubricity because E85 in CA is practically E90 (almost anhydrous). The track guys (track mustangs online) endorse this.

ah that makes sense, mine tests at 80 but have yet to see what it'll be in the winter. Is mmo soluble in alcohol?

My question also. I'll buy a small can and try it before I put it in my tank.
feel like we should be able to just ask mmo directly if it's recommended for ethanol, I'll email them

I would like to know as well. I've been running E85 exclusively since I got the tune and I don't really want to run a full tank of 93 but will if I have too. My daily commute is short (2 miles if that) so E lasts a while for me lol
I'm not sure how accurate this is so take it with a grain of salt, but your situation of driving ~2mi at a time on E85 reminded me of this video I saw a few months back which states that short drives on E85 can cause problems over time. Just one coyote owner lookin' out for another.
