On race cars O2 sensors are maintenance items, like spark plugs.

I think the full switch to unleaded was 1976? anyway it was well into the 80's we were regularly replacing O2's due to the residual lead in the tanks at gas stations.

Yeah the lead mixed in with the non leaded fuel and people where feeding that lead though their systems daily tanks at a time. It wasn’t a good deal back then.
