Thanks I'll have the dealer do this test. There is a procedure you can ask them to perform, as part of a warranty repair. If anything, the following will formally document the concern and get it on the books.
Ask them to do the, "303-00 Engine System, Oil Consumption Test". I'll summarize.
1. Interview the Owner
2. Review car for leaks
3. Inspect PCV valve for correct operation
4. Confirm proper coolant thermostat operation
5. Inspect spark plugs for oil saturation
6. Oil change, using one quart less
7. Run engine, check oil, mark dipstick
8. Add final quart, mark dipstick
9. Record mileage
Customer should then check oil once a week, or every 200 mi/320 km.
"When the subsequent indicator readings demonstrate a full liter (quart) has been used, record the vehicle mileage. The mileage driven should not be less than 4,800km (3,000mi for regular vehicles and 800km (500mi for Ford Performance vehicles."
While there is the 500 mi statement, agree with others: if you're driving the vehicle under normal road conditions, other than fuel use, loss of 2 quarts of anything in that short mileage is excessive.
When you have time, please keep us updated. Good Luck.![]()
Wow, that's absurd... But if this is what it says in the manual, then I imagine this might be a difficult fight to win if the dealer pushes back. I mean I drive hard, but maybe not hard enough (though I've tracked a couple times). Still never had to top off oil between changes. Anecdotal evidence, though, I know.I don’t know if the M1 is a ford performance car or not…if so, then one quart per 500 is “acceptable”

I had the same problem, not as bad but I'd have to top up 1.5 liters every 2000 klm and after some heated discussions with the dealer I went somewhere else and started using Penrite 5w40 oil and I don't have to top up now I also service every 10k klm.Hey peeps I have a 2021 Mach 1 that i have to put in 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. Should I be concerned? It's a daily driver (well 3 to 4 days a week) and I do drive it. Let me know what you think.
