There is a procedure you can ask them to perform, as part of a warranty repair. If anything, the following will formally document the concern and get it on the books.

Ask them to do the, "303-00 Engine System, Oil Consumption Test". I'll summarize.

1. Interview the Owner
2. Review car for leaks
3. Inspect PCV valve for correct operation
4. Confirm proper coolant thermostat operation
5. Inspect spark plugs for oil saturation
6. Oil change, using one quart less
7. Run engine, check oil, mark dipstick
8. Add final quart, mark dipstick
9. Record mileage

Customer should then check oil once a week, or every 200 mi/320 km.

"When the subsequent indicator readings demonstrate a full liter (quart) has been used, record the vehicle mileage. The mileage driven should not be less than 4,800km (3,000mi for regular vehicles and 800km (500mi for Ford Performance vehicles."

While there is the 500 mi statement, agree with others: if you're driving the vehicle under normal road conditions, other than fuel use, loss of 2 quarts of anything in that short mileage is excessive.

When you have time, please keep us updated. Good Luck. :please:
Thanks I'll have the dealer do this test.

Is the dealer doing the oil changes, and are they actually filling it accordingly? I've been shorted at the dealer before with new techs.

I know the 2018-2021 F150's have major oil consumption issues, and there have been a few class action lawsuits for it. I just assumed the same Gen Mustangs were having the same issue. I know the engines are somewhat different, but they're the same architecture. Ford tried to remedy them with an updated dipstick and a PCM reprogram. Then they started adding on the 7 year-100k mile warranty after the oil consumption tests.

Ford has become more and more uncooperative with their dealers in covering repair claims as their record warranty costs and recalls are impacting profits. Getting to the root of the oil consumption problem might require invasive inspection of the engine and they'll give the dealer and you every excuse why expensive diagnostic procedures aren't authorized and why oil consumption on a performance application is acceptable. Don't, for a minute, stand for being brushed off, find a dealer with enough spine and talent to stand up to any resistance in covering diagnostic expenses and eventual repair costs. You need to get to the bottom of where that oil is going, your engine was manufactured using the same equipment and assembly line as any other Coyote application so the "performance" excuse is just smoke screen to hide form accountability and the potential cost of a proper repair.

Out of interest - have you had it from new, and if so, how did you run it in ?

I don’t know if the M1 is a ford performance car or not…if so, then one quart per 500 is “acceptable” 😉

Wow, that's absurd... But if this is what it says in the manual, then I imagine this might be a difficult fight to win if the dealer pushes back. I mean I drive hard, but maybe not hard enough (though I've tracked a couple times). Still never had to top off oil between changes. Anecdotal evidence, though, I know.

If those 1000 miles are not on the track then it is not acceptable, the engine doesn't need almost any oil refills. I think I filled 200 ml (7 oz) in the first year when I did 7000 km (4300 miles) and nothing since then because I run only around 2000 miles yearly.

Ford's absurd statement about acceptable oil consumption is targeted at performance vehicles at high RPM/load under track conditions. Even then, high oil consumption is a red flag that something is wrong. Based on my "calibrated" dip stick, my Mach 1 uses one quart/5K miles. My wife's Subaru 2.0L turbo consumes virtually no oil between between 5K oil changes. Keep up the good fight to correct the root issue.

Hey peeps I have a 2021 Mach 1 that i have to put in 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. Should I be concerned? It's a daily driver (well 3 to 4 days a week) and I do drive it. Let me know what you think.

I had the same problem, not as bad but I'd have to top up 1.5 liters every 2000 klm and after some heated discussions with the dealer I went somewhere else and started using Penrite 5w40 oil and I don't have to top up now I also service every 10k klm.
The dealer I was at couldn't or wouldn't tell me what oil they use but I'm guessing it's some cheap crap. I do use a little oil over the 10k service intervals like a few mm on the dip stick but nothing like it was. I've now got 90k klm on my car now. Ford only did the first service I never went back.
Hope it all works out ok.

meh, that’s already a ding against the dealer…your oil change parameters have nothing to do with consumption 😉
