Hey peeps I have a 2021 Mach 1 that i have to put in 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. Should I be concerned? It's a daily driver (well 3 to 4 days a week) and I do drive it. Let me know what you think.

That does not sound normal. I am not aware of any regular oil consumption issues with these 5.0s in any form, and I've never experienced such a problem in mine. Nor in the 2015 GT I had before. I've driven a combined 50K in the two cars... so not a ton, but never lost a drop of oil.

If you're still under warranty, I'd say get it to a dealer you trust.

Yeah, what RocketGuy3 said.

That seems like a lot of oil to lose. Even the Mustangs I've had in the past that did consume a lot of oil didn't need that much addition.

Thanks I just want to make sure before I go back to the dealership. I've had it notated with them a coupe of times so my concern is on record. They said they've "tested" the system and see no problems (I think they're being lazy). So i'll have to get my Shaq on and force them to do more.

If it's under warranty, suggest to them they should pay for the 6 to 10 extra quarts you need to properly maintain the system between oil changes.

Very nice looking car you have there! Have you popped the hood to see if there are any obvious signs of a leak are present? Around the intake manifold, valve covers, oil filter, oil pan, drain plug. Any odor of burnt oil after driving? 2 quarts per 1k miles seems like a lot.

They said they've "tested" the system and see no problems (I think they're being lazy).
There is a procedure you can ask them to perform, as part of a warranty repair. If anything, the following will formally document the concern and get it on the books.

Ask them to do the, "303-00 Engine System, Oil Consumption Test". I'll summarize.

1. Interview the Owner
2. Review car for leaks
3. Inspect PCV valve for correct operation
4. Confirm proper coolant thermostat operation
5. Inspect spark plugs for oil saturation
6. Oil change, using one quart less
7. Run engine, check oil, mark dipstick
8. Add final quart, mark dipstick
9. Record mileage

Customer should then check oil once a week, or every 200 mi/320 km.

"When the subsequent indicator readings demonstrate a full liter (quart) has been used, record the vehicle mileage. The mileage driven should not be less than 4,800km (3,000mi for regular vehicles and 800km (500mi for Ford Performance vehicles."

While there is the 500 mi statement, agree with others: if you're driving the vehicle under normal road conditions, other than fuel use, loss of 2 quarts of anything in that short mileage is excessive.

When you have time, please keep us updated. Good Luck. :please:

Thats too much. These cars use a little oil but that is way excessive. They need to check for scoring or valve guides not right. I believe for Ford its 1 litre very 750 miles(still excessive, but tolerable for Ford).

Yeah that is too much. I burn 1q every 6K miles. So 1 qt between oil changes. I have 39K miles, daily driven.
