I went the ESS route on my Bullitt, G3X, G4 Intercooler, 125 pully, GT500 injectors and Wengerd 93 octane tune but since I don't have local access to a dyno I have no way of knowing how much hp it is putting on the ground, but it is more than enough to cook off the 315 Cup2s out back in any of the 3 lower gears (with TC off)...well worth the $$$ to me.
I think this is the route I want to go with. Thanks for the details!

My goal is also ~600 whp and am going with an ESS G2 kit with the biggest pulley. All you need is the GT500 injectors and Vortech BAP that you can select with the kit. Plus your own choice of tuner, I'm already tuned by Juggernaut so that'll only be an extra $200 for tuning. My shop quoted me $1k for installation.

How many people have posted their broken cranks here that had a Procharger?

The P1X is a bad bitch
I've only seen a few on the webs. And of those that broke, they had an aftermarket harmonic balancer. And with the LS/LT crowd, it's always incorrect tension on the belt.

Guess it's easier to blame the manufacturer than ones own dumbarse haha.

I’m curious to know whether everyone is doing OPGs, harmonic balancers and crankshaft supports with their ESS kits? If so, which balancer are you guys running?

Looks like ESS has refurbished G2 kit for $4K and change. Then I have to pay to get it installed, the tune, and I don't know if I need injectors and fuel system. but by my calculations it would end up being close to $7000 all in.
You’ll need injectors, not a full fuel system. Do you have any tools and a parking spot? The install is totally doable with basic hand tools and an afternoon worth of work.

Just factory stuff on the crank...so far no problems with anything except traction that is...next set of rears will be 325s.

None of the above here and so far so far good. Based on what I was seeing, it seemed like I saw more failures and issues with these aftermarket parts. Likely due to improperly installed items.

I do have some tools and a parking spot. That said I wouldn't trust myself with the install.

A few years ago I was at Killer Performance in Grain Valley, MO, during which I received a tour of the shop by one of the owners. He pointed out an S550 Mustang that ha the motor out of it. He said the owner had a harmonic balancer on it that was improperly installed. He said that wasn’t the first time that they had seen that scenario before either.

I’ve been looking at balancers for my car and the one that’s most appealing to me is the Fluidampr because it doesn’t require periodic rebuilds like the ATI Super Damper which says this right on the damper itself:

It is, and so is a G3X. I've had both. Either can make 900 wheel on a gen3.

Either brand has options to take you well past 1000 wheel with supporting mods.

Is one really better than the other? Marginally depending on who you ask, and Doubtful. Both brands have been around a long time. The cost however is the deciding factor. ESS power is less expensive, so for the average consumer it is the right choice. And the installation is as easy as it could be.

I've never been a big fan of the Procharger solution of hanging a giant extra pulley assembly off of the end of the OEM balancer- It just puts way too much leverage on an already undersized snout.

Procharger does have their own (and rather disappointing) tuning and device, and Procharger offers a CARB compliant kit, so for anyone living in the Democratic Republic of California, they can still have boost.

For OP, just trying to budget some extra ponies - a refurbished ESS G3 or the Beefcake BSS P2 Paxton Novi 1200 kit is going to get you there. No matter what, spend the money on reliable and proven tuning.

If you have some basic tools, and somewhere to work on your car, you can easily install the ESS kit. My jack was broke when I got the kit in the mail and I installed it without jacking the car up at all. The hardest part is removing the front bumper and routing the belt.
If you have done that before, then the install will be very simple.
It comes with very straightforward and easy to follow instructions. It's one of the easiest mods I've ever installed on any one of my cars and trucks throughout the years. I'd rather install an ESS kit than change out lowering springs or install a catback exhaust.
From what I know, a procharger is a lot more of a pain to install, dealing with the belt route and crank pulley.

Thanks Pistol_91. Installing it myself is probably not an option for me. Don't have the tools or the inclination.
