I ended up just purchasing an Aluma executive series open trailer with the weather sealed box. I’m picking it up Friday this week in Tennessee (7 hour drive each way for me)

Its crazy how trailers have followed the car market. I wanted an enclosed trailer but right now I’m just a weekend warrior. I need to get to a point where I am spending more weekends/time at the track to go down the path of an enclosed…. Tho I certainly will miss things like AC on hot summer days at the track.

Here are a few pictures of the trailer. I had to get something before the first weekend of March because I am going to VIR. And FYI that is not my tow vehicle in the pictures 😂 that is what they sent me.

I’ve been looking at that model as well as the timpte and futura drop models. I tried to get the dealer in CO to give me an angle for the 8’ ramps but haven’t had any success. I was curious if I would need ramp extension for the car to clear. Any idea if you will need extensions or not? Nice trailer. Even better tow vehicle.

I’ll keep you posted this weekend when I pick up, but I did buy the race ramp 5 inch trailer ramps as I assume I will need them. I will be able to give you an angle of the 8 foot ramps, plus the change with the race ramps. I can also snap some pictures.

I don’t have an R, but I do have my car on the ford performance springs.

im also curious if the old jack up the tongue and/or rear end of the truck trick works…

im excited, making a whole weekend out of the pickup!

Thanks! Both of my cars have the springs as well. The tongue deal does work. My R is a little over 4” off the ground for the splliter.

+1, yes raising the tongue will indeed lower the tail of the trailer. Leave the truck attached. Why leave truck attached? This will prevent the tongue of the trailer doing a "wheelie" when the car loads the tail of the trailer (easier than blocking, or using a jack to support tail of the trailer).

I have no experience with a trailer but just from browsing posts on another forum, one member used shipping blocks from a Challenger to put in his front springs to help load the car onto the trailer. Granted it was a mustang GT and not 350 but could still be applicable to you guys.

I'm picking up a Timpe drop trailer this weekend for my R. Hopefully its a durable and trouble free trailer.

From what I read the R needs 7 degree or less on the approach angle. I'm a bit apprehensive on having to carry additional ramps and blocks to load and unload the car so I'm going to try the drop trailer.

I can post pictures once I get it.

Yup. My trailer door ramps are 72in long with 8.5in rise, which puts me at 6.8*. My non-R on FP springs and R-spec wheel/tire it's really close. Close enough that anything other than a perfectly flat loading area it might not clear.

I'd prefer a bit more wiggle room to account for the deflection in the ramps which effectively makes the approach angle slightly steeper.

It does. Until you reach the breakover point where the angle between the deck/ramp goes past a straight line. Past there, nothing will help except longer ramps.

I'll say this though. Make sure to chock your wheels if you're gonna do that. And if you're on any kind of incline, put the truck in 4wd too. The parking brake only works on the rear axle. One of my buddies found that out the hard way and went for a little ride.

Please post up your thoughts after you take delivery. The Timpte is at the top of my list.

Picked it up and drove home 7.5 hours no problem. The spread axles seem to make a noticeable stability difference at speed. I’ll take some measurements on approach angle with the 8 foot ramps tomorrow or early in the week.

Seems like a very well built trailer.

it's gonna be COLD! Well unless you hit a pocket of weather like the mid-50's we've had this week. The local track rat 'storage' guy in Herndon has a trailer that looks like yours that last I talked to him was like $200 to rent for the weekend.

I eyeballed u-haul this afternoon and it looks like ball height is about 16" inches. What does yours come out to? Looks quite a bit lower.
