Is Adaptive Cruise worth it?

Yes it's all worth it . I love the adaptive cruise !!! It's a great package if I ever order another Mustang it will all be on there as well

I got ACC for the crash mitigation because I can't tell you how many times some asshat speeds through a parking lot at 30+ mph while I'm backing out of a spot with a giant SUV or pickup parked next to me and no way of seeing anything coming. Crash mitigation with rear park assist has saved me in these situations. I park in no mans land but someone with a new SUV or F150 is guaranteed to park next to me, these S550s are so low that there's no visibility pulling out of a spot. Leave it to the idiot Honda Civic ricers to race through parking lots like it's a highway not paying attention to anyone else on the road. I am using ACC more than I thought I would and I love it.

Edit: it is actually BLISS that alerts you when you are in reverse and a car is headed toward you from either side. *facepalm*

My wife got addicted to it in our Flex. She drives on the interstate and metro areas all the time and it helps her stay in the flow of traffic better.

That is until the unit crapped out this week. Ford dealership said the ACC module is getting power but is not communicating. The part alone is nearly $1,400 and then you have to have it installed by a Ford dealer because the radar needs to be calibrated. It went out less than 10,000 miles after my warranty expired (go figure).

I'm a Luddite when it comes to cars, so I say skip it. It's just more expensive parts to fail when you get past the warranty period.

None. But then again, I have had "regular" CC on the last 5 cars and almost never used that except to see if it still worked.

Having ACC would be a lot like handing control of the brake and accelerator pedals over to my wife and only doing the steering and shifting myself. That ain't ever gonna happen, either . . .

In the Mustang crash mitigation works only forward. Rear park assist is separate from the ACC package.

Many times, simply backing into the spot instead of driving straight in will eliminate this as a problem.

Yeah, you still have to creep out into the lane and yeah, I have the same complaint about those outsized vehicles parking next to me. No matter which car I'm driving.

Every car I have owned since 1985 has had adaptive cruise control, it's called my left thumb. I can adjust my speed up or down in 1 mph increments without taking my eyes off the road. Very easy to use and comes at no addtional cost. [emoji6]

Adaptive cruise is nice. I drive on the highway a lot and if you are distracted at all the system practically drives the car for you. People slow down your car slows down. Nice.

As the system lets you "get away with it", you may well end up teaching yourself to be less attentive . . . not so nice.
