I just came back from a long 2.5 hour trip (NJ/PA). I didn't expect much as this was my first road trip on my 2019 5.0 GT Premium (401/auto/6K miles). I had my 18 y/o daughter (5ft) in the back and nephew in the front so no issues there. Plenty of space in the trunk.
I decided to try the adaptive cruise control and keep the car in normal mode. I was amazed as to how well it worked. When I purchased it, I tried to keep a balance between power and luxuries, and this trip made me feel better about my decision. For much of the trip (HWY), I didn't have to touch the brakes or gas pedal, my 48y/o feet appreciated. A few times traffic slowed down really fast and the car adapted quickly. Not to mention, I averaged 28 mpg on a 2.5hr trip each way, with a few hills in between (rt 78/81). If I had to change something it would be to have the option to follow a little bit closer (I already was at the minimum following distance).
I am all for power, but I am sharing this in case someone is contemplating whether the Premium features are worth it. I honestly never had this feature before on any car, but it's definitively worth it on a daily driver or long trips.
