Been looking at some, could use the extra room for getting behind the wheel. But, I hate anything that requires removing the air bag. 2021 GT.

It’s not a big deal. Disconnect the negative, remove the wheel, install the new, reconnect. It’s roughly a half hour job.

Incredibly easy but sounds like it's a no period if you're not into removing the airbag.

Why do you hate removing the air bag? Disconnect the battery before starting the job. A fear of blowing the airbag is extremely low, and typically 99.47883625% self induced if you’ve ever seen some video of it happening.

As others stated, it’s a simple job and perfectly safe with the battery disconnected.

I remember removing the airbag housing (the middle part of the steering wheel including horn) was a major P.I.T.A.
But I will do it again..soon with my new ride.

The hardest part is releasing the clips to get the horn/airbag released. Left side was easy, but right side I had to attempt multiple times. Ended up making a tool with a groove in the end so the spring would not slip off.
End result was worth it:

You don't need to rice out your car to have extra room to get in or out. You will certainly hit the steering column way before hitting the wheel itself.

Disconnect he battery and there is no possible way the airbag can go off.

They need to be electrically triggered and they are extremely stable when not set off. Think about how few cases of airbags just going off there are. You'd have to do something supremely stupid to set off the airbag with the battery disconnected.

Yeah, because the OEM steering wheel in these cars is so nice.👎

Disconnect both battery cables from the battery and touch them together, this will discharge the capacitors. Use the long end of the largest allen wrench that will fit into the holes to release the springs on the airbag, and be gentle at first, as sometimes the wiring for the buttons can be in the way, and you don't want to damage them. You just push straight in towards the column
