Gen 3 forged sprocket from another group.

The corner of the key slot is a natural weak point. If it fails I would expect it to happen exactly like that.

At what point do we all concede that maybe gyrator gears for oil pumping isn't the best or optimal method for oil delivery? Especially when we consider the consequential damages associated with pump failure. I know this is rhetorical, there are no practical alternatives.

Don’t LS motors have gerotor? How do they hold up?

These all look so much more elegant than the Rube Goldberg crap oil pump drives on sbc and bbc.

Great idea, maybe ford engineers and parts developers should go on a professional tour of another brand/make that doesn't have OPG issues. Too hard, too soft, too tight, too loose, seems like the recent thread developments this year have taught us you can't have it all, you must pick a set of gears that won't shatter, but will wear quickly, or you must pick a set of gears that won't groove and wear, but risks brittle failure. This is all of course assuming they thread the needle between compliant tolerances and pump effectiveness.

I’d still like to know why this Ford crank sprocket is only applicable to the 2015-2017 Coyote 5.0… M6306M50A

https://accessories.ford.com/products/5-0l-5-2l-high-strength-forged-steel-crankshaft-sprocket

Right from the product description:
This crankshaft sprocket is designed for race applications. This forged steel crankshaft sprocket is approximately 5x stronger than the factory powdered metal sprocket found on 2015-2017 5.0L engines and offers enthusiasts peace of mind. The factory powdered metal sprocket works effectively in stock applications but when additional horsepower, RPM, and/or the stress caused by belt mounted power adders or accessories are added-this sprocket can help to avoid a costly rebuild.

Does anyone know if the 2018+ Coyote 5.0 already contains a forged steel crank sprocket as a GEN3 upgrade?

Gen 3 did come with forged CS, it was the same part as the m6306m50a. The production piece doesn't show up anymore though for the Gen3. It shows the stock Gen 2 now. Ford must have cheaped out again.
The Predator CS is a separate listing, but they're all interchangeable.

I have spent many hours researching OPG/CS failures and aftermarket billet replacements. I have actually found more cases of people having issues with their aftermarket OPGs vs cases of failure (on coyotes). The two common issues were galling of the gear surface (and the metal flakes it leaves in oil) and clearance/tolerance issues.

I really haven't found many threads claiming gear failure, but have found 6 people who had issues with their aftermarket parts. This really has me on the fence about what to do because I hate to spend the money and time to install these gears when I may just be opening up the door for issues.

So my question is.....Can anybody here confirm that they have removed billet OPGs after many miles of use and found that they look good and don't show any unusual wear?
If you are in need of some oil pump gears and sprocket we are running a special on the 16th! $249.00 shipped for the Boundary Engineering ones here at www.lethalperformance.com

The only engine I had go had OPGs installed. Lowest HP blown engine I ever had as well.
Forget OPGs.

Honestly that’s one of the reasons I haven’t supercharged my car yet. I didn’t want to tackle that install and always wondered if they were really needed. Certainly I don’t want to “cheap out” if they’re needed but also don’t want to go through the hassle of billet ones aren’t any better… or worse.
