Just wondering how many GT Performance Package drivers feel it was worth the money & did you go ahead and mod your suspension further afterwards?
What parts of the GT Performance Package you liked the most and what could you have done without?

  • 19" X 9" (F) 19” X 9.5” (R) Ebony Black-Painted Aluminum Wheels
  • 255/40R19 (F) 275/40R (R) Summer Only Tires
  • Brembo™ Six-Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors
  • "Engine Turn" Aluminum Instrument Panel
  • Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Vacuum)
  • Heavy-Duty Front Springs
  • K-Brace
  • Larger Radiator
  • Spoiler Delete
  • Strut-tower Brace
  • Unique Chassis Tuning
  • Upsized Rear Sway Bar
  • Unique Stability Control, EPAS & ABS Tuning
What's a "K-Brace"?
And what do they mean by "Unique Chassis Tuning"?

I have a PP car, and I think the option is worth twice what they charge for it. No need to do anything else to the suspension, it's perfect.

I love all the features of PP, but the one I like the most is that it is the most desirable feature on the GT, which means the ball is in my court come time to sell it

I've never regretted going with the pp. The only thing I didn't care for is the spoiler delete. I'm still debating what spoiler to go with but now I'm finding myself actually liking the delete look.
I'm loving the delete, makes the car flow and looks even more like a fastback

I believe the K-Brace is what is mounted under the hood to give more stabilization. It's a thin black piece of metal in the rear of the engine bay by the battery cover going across the area.

If it's what I'm thinking it is, I only know of it because you have to cut a part of it off to install a supercharger.

The only problem with that image is that it doesn't reflect what Ford saves by not putting the stock (no-PP) parts in. For them there isn't a big difference in cost between the PP parts and non-PP parts. The sum of the parts is much lower than the $2,995.00 that they're currently charging.

THAT SAID, if you were trying to replicate even just a couple of those parts it would cost you the same or more. So it is a "good value" if you want "performance parts", however, if you're planning on going crazy with modding the car in to a track beast with all new suspension, etc. You'll end up replacing most of those part anyway.
All true, however the 3 most valuable parts of the PP are the radiator, diff and brakes, all of which rarely get changed out on PP cars even "full build" cars...mine soon included.

My car will be going under the knife as soon as I am home (undisclosed location for 6mos) will be back in April and have/am amassing a pile of boxes in the garage at home.

FP PP2
GT350 Steering Wheel
FP Oil Sep
Steeda jacking rails
Steeda Subfrm bushings
Steeda Diff Bushings
Steeda IRS Brace
Steeda G-Trac Brace
Steeda Clutch Spring
Blowfish Shifter Bracket

Suspension TBD - I DO NOT want to lower the car at all, but suspension is the only components which would remove any PP stuff, all the others just enhance/tighten up what's already there.

  • 19" X 9" (F) 19” X 9.5” (R) Ebony Black-Painted Aluminum Wheels Better than steel, less expensive than carbon fiber, wish they werent staggered sometimes
  • 255/40R19 (F) 275/40R (R) Summer Only Tires Yuck!
  • Brembo™ Six-Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors desired Item #1. Great brakes!
  • "Engine Turn" Aluminum Instrument Panel worthless other than hiding finger prints
  • Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Vacuum) Oil Pressure is nice, but volts or temp would be more useful than vacuum
  • Heavy-Duty Front Springs not desired, but nice!
  • K-Brace anything to eliminate body roll
  • Larger Radiator Desired Item #3
  • Spoiler Delete sweetened the package. Useless spoilers are useless
  • Strut-tower Brace did I mention body roll?
  • Unique Chassis Tuning unique like a snowflake, or unique like the thousand others just like it?
  • Upsized Rear Sway Bar The wheels on the car go off the ground, off the ground, off the ground
  • Unique Stability Control, EPAS & ABS Tuning meh
you forgot the 3.73 final ratio, and the Torsen differential. I imagine gearing is too long for other ratios as they will hit the speed limiter with engine left, and that Torsen is great on ice.

110% happy I went with the PP. The brembos alone are super expensive and nice but also the radiator, the spoiler delete, radiator, diff, and the black wheels all made it worth it to me. A couple braces don't hurt either.

I haven't pushed my PP GT all that far yet. I'd really like to hit it more in the curves but I still think it's not the best idea to do it on real roads so I choose my spots carefully. I know I haven't pushed it anywhere near I could.
...
With the PP it really just FEELS like a performance car. It feels "no frills," and I think people enjoy that experience.
PJR, I think you nailed it here.

It's really awesome to have a car that feels good and performs well...but you know in the back of your mind that you could push it a lot farther given the safe (and preferably legal) opportunity.

That sense of "potentiality" alone makes the PP worth the money, IMO.

"Worth it" can be taken in different ways. I don't think a single person here would say that the option is not worth it for the amount of stuff you get for your money (the approach many are taking). How you use your car is what I would factor as determining if it were worth it. Truth is, 90% of the stuff on the PP has almost no impact on daily driving. Brembos? They don't stop much quicker than the regular GT brakes on the street - and how much does a brake job cost on those? All of the suspension and chassis changes would make it feel sportier, but it's not going to navigate a city grid any better. The 3.73s? You are just going to be shifting more often and now you get worse gas mileage. You also lose out on having a spare tire.

A lot of that stuff would make a difference on the track, but on the daily drive it's just going to make you feel like you are in a 'tracky' car, and have a much more rigid ride. To me, a lot of that stuff would be nice to have, but not enough to justify the cost (at almost a 10% the price of the whole car). It's going to be more expensive for the 2018MY, and the base 2018MY GT is supposed to be comparable, suspension-wise, to the current GTPP. I don't really plan to track my car, so to me it's just $3,000 for a bunch of cool stuff that doesn't really make a difference in how I would drive the car. Feeling 'tracky' isn't a good enough reason for me, especially when it increases the total cost of ownership.

If you can install the suspension yourself, tires, and brace maybe. Like others said, the 3.73 gears, radiator, and larger heavier wheels are not necessary. The brakes are only necessary if you plan to go over 80MPH in it, but to some, that is actually quite normal for a stang and I would love it.

I am personally kicking myself for not getting the package.

If you can't install it yourself, you are looking at 6 hours of labor at the going rate.

So what diff comes in a non PP if it is not a torsen?

Probably the same track-lok clutch pack LSD that's been in the 8.8 diffs for probably 2 decades now.

Yep.

My wife is going to kill me.... but I think I'm going to get rid off my 2017 GT Premium PP with leather Recaros , for a 2018 GT Premium Convertible Auto with PP2, with memory heated/cooled seats (ie: no Recaros).

The Auto will make it no problem about gears shifting.

The Recaros are too hard to get in & out of, and I missed the A/C seats. And I like that the memory seats move back to help you get in & out.
