"Worth it" can be taken in different ways. I don't think a single person here would say that the option is not worth it for the amount of stuff you get for your money (the approach many are taking). How you use your car is what I would factor as determining if it were worth it. Truth is, 90% of the stuff on the PP has almost no impact on daily driving. Brembos? They don't stop much quicker than the regular GT brakes on the street - and how much does a brake job cost on those? All of the suspension and chassis changes would make it feel sportier, but it's not going to navigate a city grid any better. The 3.73s? You are just going to be shifting more often and now you get worse gas mileage. You also lose out on having a spare tire.

A lot of that stuff would make a difference on the track, but on the daily drive it's just going to make you feel like you are in a 'tracky' car, and have a much more rigid ride. To me, a lot of that stuff would be nice to have, but not enough to justify the cost (at almost a 10% the price of the whole car). It's going to be more expensive for the 2018MY, and the base 2018MY GT is supposed to be comparable, suspension-wise, to the current GTPP. I don't really plan to track my car, so to me it's just $3,000 for a bunch of cool stuff that doesn't really make a difference in how I would drive the car. Feeling 'tracky' isn't a good enough reason for me, especially when it increases the total cost of ownership.
So with your mentality why not just drive a focus.

Eh, because you can definitely tell a difference when driving a Mustang vs a focus. You're not really going to tell a difference from that torsen, those brembos, that radiator, etc. when driving a PP on the road vs. driving a regular GT. Aside from maybe the bouncier suspension.

If you can't tell the difference driving between a base GT no PP and a Focus, just hand in your man card. There is no comparison, and you dont need a "tracky" setup to enjoy a sports car daily driving.

That's a silly rebuttal I see thrown around here for not choosing a PP; "why not just drive a Fusion or Focus" or other lame response to being a wannabe pretend speed racer on public roads. Most of the people with those attitudes (all modded/performance cars not just Mustangs) are the same a-holes you see eventually wrapped around a tree or guard rail because they want to pretend they having driving skills and have no business handling any setup on any performance car. Money can't fix stupid.

The fact is probably 90-95% of the PP cars sold NEVER are pushed beyond what a base GT can do and/or never see a minute of track where anyone could tell. They bought it because it sounded cool or the car on the lot had it.

If someone WANTS a PP just because that's fine, it's their money, but knocking other people's choice not to get it or build out their own cars how they want it is lame.

If you drive the car spiritedly at all you'll notice an immediate difference. The stock non-pp suspension makes the car feel like a big wallowing boat. The difference is huge.

PJR, I think you nailed it here.

It's really awesome to have a car that feels good and performs well...but you know in the back of your mind that you could push it a lot farther given the safe (and preferably legal) opportunity.

That sense of "potentiality" alone makes the PP worth the money, IMO.
I commute 35 miles each way in the thing, and I always feel like it's not supposed to be a commuter. It sounds mean and angry, it feels potholes, it's like this menacing racecar when running around town. It *doesn't belong,* and that's why I love it.

Sadly, when I said I don't push it, I meant it. I take the same curves in my Tacoma TRD on AT tires as fast or faster than the GT. I guess it's just the past 7 years of driving it and knowing its limits, or maybe it's just that it gives feedback much earlier. I presume the GT would give me the same feedback but I haven't even reached that point yet. Never chirped the tires in a curve, and have only broken traction in a straight line when I want to (which is pretty often..lol). I'm kinda scared to do it..lol. I need a flat curvy stretch of road with a level grassy area on both sides. I need to find that this year.

The PP cost on mine amounted to chump change. Looking at my sticker the total vehicle + options + D&D was $43,070. Of that amount, the PP was $2495 or 5.8%. Hell I paid more than that in sales tax (7%).

And yeah, I know I'm using the sticker for a comparison, but everything on the sticker is negotiable, making it a baseline comparison.

No city driving for me. I drive mine on the open highway passing other cars for hours on end, or in the twisties of the North Georgia Mountains. Totally worth it. Totally.

The real reason I posted this poll is to get everyone's opinion - I already have my own and every option on a Ford Mustang GT should be evaluated based on it if you will use it often and if it brings value to your driving experience. There is no reason for insults or profanity. As to my driving skills, well I can tell you some stories (This middle aged guy) could write a movie script for the next Fast & Furious movie for the kind of stunts I have pulled in a car. Oh and I was drifting even before it ever became popular. All my cars were modified even my clunkers.

My Cars:
1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 390ci
1967 Chevy Impala 350ci
1968 Chevy Impala 350ci
1973 Chevy Impala 350ci
1978 Pontiac Trans am 400ci
1985 Pontiac Trans am 305ci
1989 Pontiac Formula 350
1999 Ford Mustang V6
2005 Ford Mustang GT

I too have a Tacoma TRD (daily), after driving the Tacoma Monday-Thurs/Friday then jumping in the Mustang, it feels like a precision machine, tight, precise and very fast. Monday morning comes along and the Tacoma feels sloppy, loose, lots of body roll, and very slow by Tuesday/Wednesday I am readjusted and looking forward to the thrills of the Car at the end of the week. That is my normal week to week driving experience.

My point was more that people have piss poor attitudes about others' decisions what features to have or not have on their car; and need to toss around insults like why not drive a Prius etc. It is generally the idiot wannabe race car drivers on the public roads too (as I said any sports car not just Mustang drivers directed at the public, so not sure how the personal butthurt came) who have this irrational mentality.

If that was the mentality we should have then everyone would be driving 120hp hybrids and there would be no sports cars on the road. VERY VERY few of the overall sports cars out there have ever set a tire on a track to utilize near their full potential. If one uses it great, just as I said.

Doesnt mean you cannot enjoy a sports car not going 150mph or should tell someone mine as well go buy a Civic; that's simply an irrational immature mentality.

It's funny how people react when you talk about "modded/performance cars not just Mustangs" being aholes on the public roads, and somehow can contort that as a personal insult to sling immature comments  If Freud was still alive.....

Street Racing & Race Tracks

There is a reason why Fast & Furious became such a popular movie. Maybe you are out of touch with that reason - Street Racing became popular because in some areas of the country there are no race tracks to put tires to. So 1/4 street racers would have to go late nights to warehouse districts - a little history for you.

Oh by the way I don't condone street racing of any kind on public roads. I run into those idiots on a daily basis in their fart cans.
Those are not driving skills its just plain stupid.
