The reason KPM designed high performance direct fuel systems is the following

-Suited to modern high performance systems
-Full OE manners including correct fuel scavenging allowing the user to drive/race perfectly to a near empty tank
-Correct feed back to the factory ECU -All diagnostics maintained.
-Ability to deliver fuel from the pump more efficiently
-Increased power advantage due to cooler dense fuel vs a return system
-Ease of fitment. 800 and 1000HP systems -remove and replace
-Integration into OE system means perfect tune-ability
-No modifications

One of the great features on our KPM Fuel System is massively reduced labor times.
Especially our 800 and 1000hp systems are a direct 20min remove and replace.
No tuning required.

Check out the video below where we compare direct vs return fuel systems
In the video we talk about our KPM1500 HP system using the KPM PWM.
Please note this is ALSO 100% relevant to our KPM800 and KPM1000hp systems utiling the Ford OE PWM.

Great Video. Easy to understand.

FWIW I contacted Wengerd and asked if he'd tune me for E85 if I added the DW400 to my existing setup of BAP and GT500 injectors and he said he'd like to see a Fore return system. Unfortunately that knocks me out of the E85 game which sucks because I really loved it before going FI. Not spending ANOTHER $2,000+ on a fuel system and too happy with Wengerd's tune to risk switching tuners (not to mention the cost of another tune). I'll have to suck it up and be happy with 700-ish.
IF you want to try it i can still tune it but most likley will have pressure loss. My guess low 30s on fuel pressure at wot or possibly 20s.

We see fuel supply issues on 93 with the dw400 pretty frequently

A lot of the issues are that the gen 3 fuel rails are a bottleneck. Just switching the rails out makes a huge difference when trying to get everything out of it.
you are correct the GEN threes definitely help with a rail upgrade

I have two cars running the dw400/jms bap on a Whipple with a 3” pulley, one with gt500 55# injectors even. Fuel pressure consistently in the 50’s. You have to make sure it’s getting 48% commanded lift pump dc and as @cbrtrx said, fuel rail upgrade is crucial unless it’s a Roush or Whipple that comes with them.

I added a DW400 and radium rails at the same time. This fixed my pressure issue. I'm sure both contributed to fixing the issue. No throttle closure, no going lean, and no insufficient fuel flow. This is at "8" psi though. I wonder how much more I could get out of this set up.

Good stuff,

The lack of a fuel filter on the 800-1000 systems is a deterrent for a lot of buyers.

The second issue is that The Coyote platform can't get anywhere near 800 HP on pump gas, and since race gas here in the US is around $10 a gallon, everyone goes to E85.That being said, the 800-1000 modules won't support more than maybe 550-600 on E85? Really for this platform, the 1500 HP system is the minimum requirement for people to make 800+ wheel, which the Coyote will do fairly easily with a decent power adder.

Have you guys tested the 800-1000 systems with a BAP?

SheepDog knows this but for the rest of the thead.. FWIW, we put a GT350 fuel line into my GT to get the serviceable filter in my '15 GT, so the KPM 1000 unit was indeed only a 20 minute install in my driveway.

Technically, my mechanic had done the fuel line install a couple months prior and he was able to find the right combination of tools to deal with the portion of the line going through tight space obove the tank. That is the most awkward part of it for sure.

I know David recommends a better filter than the OEM Motorcraft FG-1083

Could you not just add a fuel filter in-line under the hood before the rails?

definitely. KPM even told me earlier that they are working on this. The GT350 and 500 Don't have Direct injection, so the OEM fuel filter is sufficient. The issue is getting an inline filter with OEM connections that can filter down to 5-6 microns. However, I wonder what the filtration value is on the OEM GT filter in the bucket anyway.
