Installed a return style fuel system so I could run E85. I also installed a breather tank and connected both valve cover breathers to it. My question is should I be getting this much liquid after just 200-300 miles?

I don't have definitive experience to say whether that's a normal amount or not, but at least your separators are doing their job.

On a side note Ethanol does draw and hold more moisture than standard 93 octane. On alcohol drag motors I do have experience with they will collect that amount of moisture in one pass fwiw.

Thanks for the reply. Reading more and more it looks like humidity is playing a big part as well.

Is the fluid collected mostly water with small amount of oil in it? Looks that way.

That's the semi good news. A bunch of oil blow by would make it kind of a milky mixture. I'd say you're right with high humidity, and E85 getting a ton of water collection. Most of the other seperators only seperate oil efficiently so they never notice.

Forced induction/intercooling also attributes to this since the incoming air is heated, then cooled, to be heated again causing condensation.

My concern now that I'm seeing that much water is what the inside of the engine is gonna look like after prolonged use of E85. I guess it's like good medications they all have side affects.

I have a similar setup. I probably get 3-4oz. every 1k miles. I saved it in a water bottle it never separates. There is no water in it.
It smells like moonshine. ethanol vapors condensing into liquid. pure ethanol? we have our own mobile distillery. LOL!

Edit,
I just went out to my shop and looked at 1 of the bottles and still has not separated after 5-6mths Still has the color of honey. and smells like liquor.

Normal, if your separator isn't near a heat source. No temp to evaporate the water, and with high humidity, well... is what it is.

Kinda like the froth you can get under the oil cap.
