Gonna get shit for saying this, but that metal prop rod everyone seems to hate has a pretty low failure rate.
It's always a race to get the prop rod end into the hood slot when engine is hot, prop rod gets hot too lol.

Imma gonna mod mine with some insulation wrap near the end so I can hold it engine hot or not.

Yeah I agree, it does get hot sometimes. A little rubber/foam wrap would help.
The ugly prop rod works every time though.
Those pressurized hood lifts stop holding support right when you need to get under there work.
It is more so a practicality thing for me... most members here just want show off the engine at a car show. They work fine for that.

I love the struts and have them on both my mustangs. Prop rod is always in the way while working under the hood. If I have to replace them at some point I am ok with that. If they last five years cool. That is five years with out the aggrivation of that damn rod.
