So I've been doing my homework on the ESS G3 kit and wanted to get some advice from those with the kit. I'm trying to figure out my actual needs for my goal, as opposed to just "buy every option because yo". Cars a '21 GT A10 "toy" that sees some daily driving duties. I don't care about dyno numbers, it won't see the drag strip, I give two canary feathers about 60-130, I ain't going to Mexico on the weekends, or trying to put up YT videos. I just want a fun street beater that's going to move on down the road and make me smile (giggle like a school girl) when I mash the go pedal. I also want it to be safe and reliable. The plan is to go with the 120mm pully, ID1050 or similar injectors, and run a BAP to start on 93. I do plan to run E85 at some point, as it's readily available around me. When I do that, I may go down to the 110mm pulley, or at least play with it. I'll cross the fuel system bridge before doing that. Stock block car. With that:

Do I really need the upgraded impeller?

Do I really need the G4 intercooler?

I don't care for the "pshhh, pshhh" sound. What blow-off valve should I run?

Should I do the typical constant voltage BAP, or opt for a throttle-controlled unit like JMS?

Stick with the stock pump, or go with a DW400?

Stock plugs and gap?

Thanks for the help, and please feel free to chime in with any other information you think might be helpful.

No

No

I run the stock option BOV and its plenty psh psh for the average joe.

JMS, not even a question. With the throttle adapter.

Stock pump, you're already getting a BAP.

I did the stock plugs re-gapped, at 22k miles on them. Worked fine, ended up replacing them because re-gapping stock plugs makes the diode a terrible angle. It bothered me. Still ran fine.

With this fueling set up, you're stuck on 93 with a 120mm pulley, with the normal tuner options. Which is a solid amount of power for most people and the 10 speed will complement the set up even more and will be more enjoyable.
If you ever think you may want more power or to go faster because all of a sudden you have an itch to drag race. You will regret it not getting the X peller or G4 intercooler.

For E85 you'll need fueling mods for sure, keep that in mind. As far as I know a lot of tuners won't tune you for E85 without a return style system.

Maybe I missed it but what ESS unit/head are you planning to use? G2/G3? I only see pulley size mentioned.

NEEDS: for pump gas on G2 with 120mm/125

(Disclaimer I'm very much adhering to the word "need." not "recommended", or "want")

- Better different/ injectors GT500 ect
-Tune (duh)
-No you don't actually need a BAP or a DW4XX Fuel pump on the above set up.
-IC: Youll get a G2 IC at minimum. that's all you NEED.

You'll "Want" at least A BAP and G3 intercooler.

E85 on the other hand changes everything. Since that has a whole different set of needs vs recommended and can vary by tuner slightly.

A DW400 will handle the E85. You can find a tuner who is knowledgeable who will tune it with the Dw400 and you will be more than happy with that set-up. I would opt for the G4 intercooler, just because, for the money, more cooling is never a bad thing, especially if you find yourself running 93. The 12:1 compression and the stock piston ringland do NOT like heat very much. It's cheap insurance for when you aren't on E85.

Skip these, get the Banish injectors instead. It's all in the data

Get the Ford performance spark plugs, (Cobra jet) These are already made for boost, so you don't have to significantly change the gap, like you do with OEM or the 6510's. Mine were .028 right out of the box.

Ouch. How did the head/valve do? Or did it just get broken up enough and spit out the exhaust valve with little to no damage?
Before and after clean-up (decking, new valves and springs) at the machine shop. Those pieces rattled around pretty good

If you're going to upgrade to e85 later I'd size the injectors for your future goals but go cheap on the bap for now. I know everyone likes the jms but save money and get a constant 18v bap. Your stock pump can handle it. I ran one for over 50k miles at close to 800whp and when I removed my stock pump at 106,000 miles it was still working fine.

Also if it was me I'd go with ngk6510s over the ford plugs. I've ran both and even though you have to tighten the gap on the ngks, they lasted better and way longer for me.

I dunno. I’m seeing three different levels to your thoughts…

1) don’t care about numbers
2) safe and reliable
3) will go E85 soon

maybe just buy the base kit with the better intercooler for now and see if it crumbles your cookie…just my two cents 🤓

I agree with @wingnutt

How do you even know you want a centri supercharger? Why not a PD supercharger? Why do you want 800whp when you don't care about numbers? Why not 600whp?

Also, based on this statement:

"I just want a fun street beater that's going to move on down the road and make me smile (giggle like a school girl) when I mash the go pedal. I also want it to be safe and reliable."

What tires are you going to be running? When you mash the go pedal I'm assuming you don't want to spin...so are going to be on drag radials year around? At what speeds will you be mashing the go pedal?
