If you want to giggle like a school girl as soon as you mash the go pedal, a whipple would tickle your fancy.

But as previously mentioned, this immediate joy has repercussions. Gonna need a tire. Then when you get a tire start thinking about half shafts and a clutch.

Yep, can’t disagree with the whipple if giggling is your thingy. This coming from a guy who went base Procharger with the upgraded intercooler about 6 months ago, and is currently looking for more giggles at double the psi…but I knew that going in, not my fault that the accounting department did not šŸ˜‚

If he really wants to giggle, fuck all the supercharger options. Op Go turbo. Seems to check all the boxes. More power, less engine strain, easy to turn up for e85, easy to turn down on a street tires. Just solved all the hater's issues at once. 🤣

An A10 car on an ESS is going to make him giggle just fine, and this is coming from a guy running a Whipple. That transmission will keep him in the power curve of a G3 no problem and it will pull like a freight train.

Before and after clean-up (decking, new valves and springs) at the machine shop. Those pieces rattled around pretty good

Ouch.. How did that happen? Spark plug gap caused your piston to smash your spark plug? Or what let loose

I agree with @wingnutt

How do you even know you want a centri supercharger? Why not a PD supercharger? Why do you want 800whp when you don't care about numbers? Why not 600whp?

Also, based on this statement:

"I just want a fun street beater that's going to move on down the road and make me smile (giggle like a school girl) when I mash the go pedal. I also want it to be safe and reliable."

What tires are you going to be running? When you mash the go pedal I'm assuming you don't want to spin...so are going to be on drag radials year around? At what speeds will you be mashing the go pedal?
I like the price point of the ESS.

I never said I want 800whp. I said I'll probably go with a 110mm pulley and E85 at some point. I said this because I know the 120mm & 93 will get "old/boring" after 6-8 months. I know myself.

I only want to address the needs of the ESS G3 kit in this thread. I didn't want to "muddy/water" it down, with talk of tire and suspension. To answer this question, I'll probably run the Toyo Proxy 888 or similar, with all the "typical" supporting rear suspension mods.

Any speed, my inner child wants to mash the gas at. More than likely, it'll be pulls from 35ish to 90ish when entering the freeway/highway.

understood, and with that in mind I stand by my theory…get the base kit with the good intercooler, keep the BAP, fancy BOV, big fuel pump etc for future upgrades šŸ˜‰

Um...it sounds like you need to do a little more research. People with headers with a 110mm pulley on E85 make 800whp....

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You have a certain pulley size in mind and don't even know where your power figures will be. Again, if you aren't chasing numbers then what are your goals? 700whp is still a lot more than stock...

Also, I think you might want to look into what you want the car to feel like when it has more power. From what I understand, the centri will get you down the road a lot faster than currently...but in a linear fashion. A PD blower will throw you into your seat harder because it will make like 100 more ft lbs of torque at the same rpm. You should feel the torque on the shifts too.

Part of the reason I got my (shitty) Roush blower was because I wanted to feel that the car was supercharged when I drove it. Every time I put my foot past 1/4 throttle I know there is a blower there because I can already feel the extra power and torque. Plus if you want to save money the Roush is cheap and carb legal....just saying...

I'm well aware that a 110mm & E85 can and will make 800whp. If it makes 782/558 or 893/621, cool. As long a it's safe and reliable. Yes, yes, that's an entirely different discussion, I know.

I'll look into the Roush. Again, I like the price point of the ESS. Can I and will I spend more money, sure. I always thought root-style blowers carried a higher price point, and being the cheap bastard I am, I wanted to start here (ESS G3).

I think he's saying he doesn't want 800hp now but will likely do e85/pulley down the road

I say just make the big jump now

Back to back to back runs in 100 degree heat, on 93, combined with a wee bit too much timing and the ringland broke. The pieces of the piston rattling around crushed the spark plug end and banged up the head.

I would add that most normal people will be more than happy with a car on 93 making in the 600's

turning it up with a pulley and e85 turns into a Pandora's box of other things

e85 fuel system is going to be like $3,000
Longtube headers without cats are another big chunk of cash
drag Radials are now mandatory
You're going to spend another $2,000-4,000 on suspension parts etc
You'll probably buy a driveshaft, might burn up your trans...

Yes....@robvas just beat me to it.

At the end of the day all boost is "expensive". There are things that will add up that you won't really think about like installation costs, custom tuning, dyno time, tires, etc. If you don't have at least 10k ready to put into the car then stop.

You have to consider too that the PD blowers are full "plug and play" kits with injectors, heat exchangers, tuning, etc. So they will always be more since it's an "out the door price".
If you decide on a Roush I got mine for $7500 (10% discount for labor day). If you can wait until November there should be black Friday sales on some blowers I would imagine. And @engineermike will tell you that the Roush blower on E85 essentially alleviates the cooling issues. And that you can run E85 with just a BAP. And if you keep your stock exhaust he has a plethora of knowledge about specific tuning for cat overtemp protection.... because all of this will save you money

If you want safe and reliable, do not bolt a supercharger on your car.
