Emergency brake handle annoyance

so I don't have the premium seats, just plain old cloth seats, but mine are also all the way down, and all the way back.

I'll get it looked at when I take it in the first time.

Yea, what is wrong with these people. No one with an auto uses the handbrake.
Next they will be telling us they dont drive around in neutral.

I have the premium seats, all the way back and down, and as I said have the same issue. It must have something to do with how people adjust their seat or sit. I dont see how I could drive the car without my leg being there and hitting into it.

Yeah, that's interesting. I ski raced as a younger man, and my legs are not small by any means. My leg is at least an inch away at the closest. I definitely need to tighten up the slack, though... which would also solve OP's problem. The brake strains to hold the car on my hilly driveway. I can push the car from behind and move it without effort (well, until 1st gear engages; I let it settle on the brake before letting up on the clutch when parking).

Same problem, more so when I'm wearing a coat, definitely a puffy or thicker one. There is 0 resistance for like the first 1/2-1 inch of travel in the handle and the sensor is in that range so it triggers. Simply a heavier handle would likely help prevent it.

I picked up a used 2019 GT last week (low miles, killer deal) - and something i've noticed that i'm doing repeatedly, I'm hitting the ebrake with my knee, which then causes the car to freak out that the brake is on.

Well hot damn! Thanks for posting this. I'll have the resonator out of the car this weekend, when I replace it with an H-pipe, so it'll be off the car anyway. Fantastic!

Just to close this one - the video linked to here has the fix that I was looking for.

I had to tighten mine up substantially, had SO much play. And since I did, the play is gone, and the handle is nice and secure. Thank you again, 5 Spurs, for linking to it.

I just wanted to post in this thread because I saw a few Need for Green in it. However, I don’t run into the problem, BUT, I did find myself not putting it ALL the way down a few times, and that can make it easier.

I absolutely set the parking brake in our Q5 every time. Saves strain on the transmission parking pawl.

Ford can take a note from the Camaro playbook, use an electric emergency brake that has a button.

I've got an electric handbrake in my Mondeo. I hate it. I'm so happy they're still putting a normal handbrake in the Mustang. I can hardly wait to get rid of this stupid button and go back to a good old lever.

Yep, mine as well. I don't realize it's happened until the christmas lights on the dash start going crazy that the brake is on.

so 14 posts in and the problem is clear. Two Zombie Green cars have this problem, and the next is a Green Bullett. Post #15 is the first non-Green Mustang to have the problem. I'm sure it's the color, and clearly the Red mustang is an outlier. He has a different issue.
