EcoBoost or EcoBust?

The initial drive reviews have offered very mixed perspectives on the the EB, with some lauding its better weight balance and citing sharper handling relative to the GT, and others lamenting its lack of upper-rev grunt and weak exhaust note. How are you seeing it so far?

What is the ecoboost purpose in a mustang? Performance which offers more horsepower and dat torque and some fuel economy?

I pre-ordered months ago based on the 100% new platform; IRS, 310hp/320tq. and decent MPG. The opinions of some "experts" who spent a few hours with the car has done nothing to change my opinion or order. Don't get me wrong, it's encouraging to hear the overwhelmingly positive comments, but I'll be a true believer after about two weeks of seat time myself. Until then I am praying I didn't make a 28k mistake!:doh:

I voted for the second choice. It has some flaws and compromises, but lots of people will probably enjoy it and be satisfied with it. I have to keep reminding myself that this is the de facto base model despite the continued existence of the V6, which is there mostly for Hertz.

There is no way you will regret the decision unless you seriously overthink it. ;)

28k is such a bargain for a car like this. I still think the GT is given the entire package, but man. I keep forgetting about the pricing delta.

I answered the last choice: IMO a 4 banger has no place in a sports car (ok for ecobox Toyota Yaris).

Until the Mustang significantly loses some weight and size (which I had hoped it would), a four banger just doesn't fit the brand. They should have spent more time figuring out how to make the 3.5 EB more fuel efficient.

The reviews and this forum sometimes make me feel bad for not choosing to get a GT...

But then I remember that no car is perfect and I'm grateful I can afford this amazing car. I'm only 24 years old and I'm able to buy a fully loaded, great looking and performing American sports coupe for less than 30k OTD. I have zero complaints. I'll have plenty of time in life to get a GT

I guess a Miata is not a sports car?

Nearly a million original purchasers would disagree with you, and so would I. The Miata is the definition of a sports car, the Mustang is not ( except for the 65-66 Shelby GT350 ).

The Ecoboost is a great addition and I'm impressed with what the aftermarket has done w/ the Focus ST. Cobb should do great things for this Stang.

Torque curve, or more accurately a straight line through the entire operating range What's not to like?

95% are just driving these on the street, this thing makes massive amounts of torque everywhere. You can buy one for a little over $25K with a decent chassis and a ton of content (no pun intended) Some snotty magazine guys, not always a good judge of a specialty car.

I have no doubt that I will love this car. I also have no doubt there will be a few things I won't be 100% happy with. But regrets...not gonna have those!

Yea that's a 'on the road' price too! Pretty good turbo bang for the buck.

Mine will probably never see a track. But will get a steady workout back and forth to work, with the occasional Sunday afternoon romp down the back country twisties.
