Just wondering what some of you think about the choice of components that make up the Performance Package?

The two things that disappoints me about the PP are the lack of standout visual pieces to say
"This is something special above and beyond the normal Mustang"
and..............
The fact that the PP does not get a more aggressive exhaust.

Rather than a spoiler delete, I would prefer to see a PP exclusive rear spoiler. Additionally, it feels to me that it would be correct for the PP to have some sort of ram air hood scoop. Along with the additions, some sort of different paint scheme would be nice to highlight the PP. perhaps nothing more than a pair of stripes.

For a performance Package I feel that a great sounding exhaust sound goes hand in hand with better performance and some sort of unique look. It also might free up 5-10 HP.

This stuff can (and probably will) be added by most owners to get the look they want but I feel Ford missed the mark by looking at the Performance Package as being strictly about 1/4 mile and road race track numbers without addressing the asthetics.

What do you think?

I don't want a hood scoops, stripes, or anything visual to make my car obviously show it's a PP. I'm not buying the Performance/Track package to look cool but to go fast around a racetrack. There are parts in the package that would be too expensive to add later so I feel it is a good value. The exhaust will guaranteed see and upgrade by me that will be far more aggressive than anything Ford would ever put on the car so that an stay stock for all I care.

I'm glad that it does not have a hood scoop. I hate those!

The slightly more aggressive chin spoiler is a nice subtle addition to the PP. I think the regular Mustangs have already done most of the exterior add-ons that you would normally find in the aftermarket: chin spoiler, rocker sill extensions, diffuser, etc. The spoiler delete is unorthodox for something marketed as a performance option, but I'm glad that's how mine will be.

I guess the only cosmetic enhancements I would have expected differently would be slightly larger exhaust tips and a different diffuser molding for the body colored portion on premium models (which would leave the base models hanging dry), neither of which seem like realistic changes.

Its a "performance pack", not a visual pack.

I wouldn't want any more... The wheels are a big enough cue. Most spoilers look tacky on all the new age muscle cars. There is no need for a hood with a scoop or cowl induction. And why would Ford waste money on exhaust when that is one of the first things people will change anyways?

It's a "Performance Package" not a "Pretty Package."

I don't need/want the visual cues either.

My only regret is that Ford didn't offer a SW&T kit option specifically engineered for the GTPP. Currently any buyer who wants the peace of mind of throwing a spare in the trunk on long trips is (1) left without a jack and tire iron, and (2) left guessing about spoke/rim/center hub clearances over the 6 piston Brembo calipers.

I realize eventually this information will come to light as the performance shops and buyers get a closer look at the car, but I can't help but believe a Ford engineered solution would have been cheaper and an exact fit. Perhaps Ford Parts will have kit available?

If I've said it once, I've said it fifty times, black wheels as the only option:thumbdown:

You have no idea how many complaints dealers get about brake dust from people who don't understand what brake dust is. People think brake dust means that their cars are broken, and people have tried to get cars returned under lemon laws for brake dust.

The Brembos produce a larger-than-usual amount of brake dust. Ford didn't want to have to deal with the headache of having thousands of people try to claim their cars were defective because of brake dust. The easiest answer? Give it wheels that don't show brake dust. The end.

Had black wheels on my S197, can say that it showed dust and dirt as easily as a black car does. Was a nightmare keeping those things clean. Worth it, though.

I have to say I love the black wheels, and can't wait to see this car in person.

The only thing I guess you could say I'm disappointed in, and really not even that much at all, is the stock Pirelli tires. I'm going to try my hardest to wear them out by 5-10k miles.

I'm with the original poster here. I don't understand the spoiler delete being mandatory - I agree with the OP that there should be a unique spoiler for the PP, but if someone wants the spoiler delete option, that should be allowed too.

Look at the 1LE Camaro - essentially that's the PP Mustang. You can spot the 1LE from an airplane at 30,000 feet with that unique hood.

I may be in the minority, but if I'm spending $10K over the price of a V6/EB, I want it to be somewhat distinctive. The connoisseurs are always going to be able to spot the differences between the models, but IMO, it should be obvious to even "casual" sports car fans. A Boss has so many visual cues even Ford car salesman could identify them. ;-)
