More consistent for noobs. Not veterans for such as myself. :-) some of us are capable of being of being no more then .15 at the most off. With enough practice its not such a big deal for the driven. With over 10k passes at the strip, i find autos impressive but boring. i prefer my skillset. While it checks off that box for you, it unchecks the fun box for most. My idea of fun is 8-9 second cars with manuals. Your idea of fun to me is boring.

First of all I don't care how good anyone can drive a manual it'll never be as consistent run after run as an auto.

Second of all maybe you should reread my first post you quoted to see what box I checked.

You understood it so well that you said "While it checks off that box for you, it unchecks the fun box for most" and "Your idea of fun to me is boring" even though I stated I prefer manuals because they're more fun and that I have a PP car which is a manual, despite everyone telling me to get an auto. I prefer to drive and race a manual but I can still acknowledge that autos are superior in drag racing (especially with the technology they have now vs just a short time ago) and the fact that a $4K transmission (plus everything else needed to make it work) probably isn't ideal for the OP who is looking at minor bolt ons.

But hey, whatever.

Like most have said here already, I think it really comes down to what type of driving you will be doing most often. As for me I will go GT/PP with M6 as I may or may not drag the car and even if I do it would be minimal, I enjoy driving a manual too much to give it up for a half second on the strip. :cheers:

Basically, I want to make an informed decision when I buy my new Mustang and not regret what I end up getting. Does the PP equipped Mustang not perform as well at the drag strip as the non-PP equipped car if all else is the same? Thanks and sorry for being so long-winded.

Even with the S197 5.0 cars the autos did better at the drag strip than the 6MT cars.

As for my experience with an S550 GTPP car... I have not been to the strip with the car, but I have done some launches from stop lights. I don't slip the clutch, rather I feather it and roll into the throttle in 1st before going WOT. I haven't had any issues with wheel hop, but the rear end can slide side to side a bit in 2nd while the tires are trying to hook up. I've had all the nannies on every time I've done this.

If drag strip times are of paramount importance to you then get the auto trans. If you want a fun street or track car then get the 6MT and the PP. JMO, YMMV.
