For real. I stopped doing my own oil changes several years ago. It’s a time and convenience thing for me. I can drop my car off in the morning, they run me home and when I’m done working for the day or at lunchtime, they come get me and I pick up my car. Plus I don’t have to worry about disposing the oil. Just because someone chooses not to do something doesn’t mean they can’t. And even if they can’t, no shame in paying someone that knows what they’re doing to do it. To each their own.I don’t know how you guys get off so hard trying to flame me for not doing something myself for once![]()
I haven’t said it yet no worries brother, it is Batavia Body Werx. As I said they did great with my wing but not so great with the brace. Also as young at heart said know thyself and I’ve decided to bust my ass to pay this car off this year and grab a 24 or 25, since I know this will always bother me.Whether they fixed the problem or not, why not say the name of the shop?
Myself, if I lived around there I would want to know the name of the shop that could do this kind of damage by a simple Strut Brace installation.
If you did mention the name my apologies, I had to skip all the bitching posts.
I hear you I've been staring at two minute little dents in my roof for two years. LolI haven’t said it yet no worries brother, it is Batavia Body Werx. They're mostly correct, those studs are just spot welded onto the underside of the shock tower, so it would be a big pain to replace them, the correct way at least. From experience doing my base model as well, the paint on them will get stripped off when they put the top lock nut on it, so it's whatever really. If you look closely, I noticed they messed up both studs that the brace attaches too as well. I took the car to Ford to see if they could replace said studs, they said they are not replaceable, and it would be about 5k in work to replace the entire area. Is this true? Obviously it’s cosmetic but it truly does bother me. That’s really what made my mind up.

Alec, I’ve already said this earlier in this thread but I’ll say it again: trade that thing before your drooling becomes permanent. You can’t put a price on mental health. Saying you can get used to it is just whistling past the graveyard. Obviously you cannot. If you look closely, I noticed they messed up both studs that the brace attaches too as well. You are right and I plan on it. Honestly my plan is pay the car off, pay my student loans off and finish my masters off by May 2025. That way I’ll have the whole trade in value to put towards a 25 I will order.Alec, I’ve already said this earlier in this thread but I’ll say it again: trade that thing before your drooling becomes permanent. And yes, I‘m serious. No need to ask me how I know!
I’m confused then because the shop mentioned also they snapped one of them originally on install, no clue how… and replaced one of them. They're mostly correct, those studs are just spot welded onto the underside of the shock tower, so it would be a big pain to replace them, the correct way at least. I just don’t even know how they managed to do it, it kinda blows my mind they were that careless. As I mentioned with the news it’s unfixable I really am left with no options other than trade when I pay it off.Oh, yikes. That sucks. I was pretty careful when I installed mine, figured those studs would snap like a candy cane.
I’ve done the same. Had a really nice Audi RS5 and a motorcycle next to me pulled the bike up and his foot peg put a small bit deep ding. The car was perfect and fully covered in PPF and ceramic coat. It would have cost a fortune to fix properly and then putting PPF over non factory paint, isn’t good.I don’t disagree with you in principle but the reality is that short of stripping down much of the underhood compartment and starting from scratch it’s never going to look or be factory again. It just won’t. And if it did, whatever product they used wouldn’t age like factory stuff.
I sympathize with you. It would make me crazy too. In fact, if it were me I’d probably have it touched up professionally then trade the car. I’m really not kidding; back in the mid-2000s I traded a nearly new truck over a door nick. I realize this isn’t normal behavior but there’s a lot to be said for knowing thyself.
