Track season is almost done and I cannot decide nor understand why OEM XY-75W-85-QL is $40 dollars a quart.

Nonetheless, here are our choices.

$10 Fiction Modifier XL-3 / 4oz (Doesn't need it per Torsen but Ford suggests it)

Rear Axle Choices
XY-75W-85-QL | $40 a quart
AMSOIL Severe Gear 80W-90 | $17 dollars a quart
MOTUL SAE-75W-90 | $22 dollars a quart

Truly, I don't care about the cost but I'm mindblown at the same time. What would you guys do? I will state AB's Garage runs AMS on everything but that's not enough of a reason for me. Fluid change will be done at home. The car has Ford Protect as well too.

I use the Redline GL-5 Gear Oil too in my GT's 3/73 Torsen (although I tend to use 75w140 for heat management on track)

Our research (i.e. asking Redline) indicates that the 75w140 doesn't need any additional friction modifiers.

If you want to stick with Motorcraft fluid and do not want to pay list RockAuto has it for around $25 and kmansparts for $21.

I think we can close this thread. K-Mans a winner and I'm not sure how they're in business but I'm not one to complain. Your greatly appreciated.

I have had good luck with Mobile 1 Delvac in my PP1 Torsen. Got several buddies running it also.

Interesting, noticed the only one mentioning the additive are the ones using the Motorcraft ?

Second: I read "I have used XYZ and very happy with it." Would anyone care to point out what makes them happy with XYZ ?

Trac Loc on the GT's requires a friction modifier, GT350 and other Torsen cars it's recommended but optional. With that said, using the modifier with an aftermarket fluid that may have its own add pack probably isn't required.

I have a Torsen and not read/seen that is optional. That said must ask, the posey unit for the Torsen does not have a clutch pack, and is all geared ?

I've seen a video of the internals @ work just don't recall, I guess I need to go back and have another look.

Thanks

Most likely means it works. 99.9% people here (including me) can't tell difference one fluid from the other. It may make some difference in wear, but unless you take it apart, you don't know.
Also for most usage, they probably do not need to replace fluid ever.
